Cooper and Violet discuss Hoarder Mom. Violet thinks it's okay for Cody to go home, but Cooper doesn't. And he tells Violet to hurry because -- as Charlotte walks up -- he says Charlotte's going to slice him for using one of her precious beds for someone who's not dying. Charlotte tells him to stop blaming her for everything; it's getting old. Cooper tells Violet that if Andrea (Hoarder Mom) doesn't start throwing stuff out the front door tomorrow, he's calling DCFS. He walks off. Charlotte asks Violet how long Cooper's going to keep punishing her, because she's about to stop forgiving and forgetting and get real nasty. A song starts singing "Caught in the middle," as Violet stands there looking puzzled.
Addison's balcony. Mark, Addison, Naomi, and Sam are having dinner as Mark raves about the view. Sloan Sloan comes out and makes sure from Addison that everything's going to be okay after the surgery. Mark ignores her and just keeps talking about the view, and how he wants to learn to surf. Sloan Sloan: "Whatever." Then she says goodnight, and Mark gives her a kiss on the cheek. Naomi tells him Sloan Sloan's not ready to be a mother, but Mark says he'll be there and he can handle it. He says he grew up when they all ran off to live on the beach. Naomi says that's crazy talk. Mark thinks he might move here and join the practice, since plastic surgery and L.A. go well together. Plus, Addison could raise the baby, since the two of them are good together. Sam laughs and then realizes Mark's serious and ... stops laughing. Mark says they all get him, since they're his old friends. He says this feels right. I can't say I disagree, actually. He'd have a bigger role here, and this show would be at least 500 times better.
Hospital the next day. Addison accuses Mark of being drunk the night before, talking about moving his whole life down here. He says that wasn't drunk talk, but he doesn't want to talk about it now since she should focus on the surgery. Charlotte comes up to ask Addison how long she'll need the O.R., then asks "Who's hot stuff?" Addison introduces them. Mark says, "Plastics," and Charlotte replies, "Sexology." Mark loves L.A. That makes one of us. He tells Charlotte he is considering moving here, and Charlotte says she's been saying they need a plastics guy. Mark says they can talk after his daughter's surgery, but Addison says now is good since Mark's not allowed within 1,000 feet of her O.R. She tells Charlotte not to let him join the practice while she's in surgery.
Hoarder House. Violet picks up some of the piled-up crap and asks Andrea if she remembers when this first started, and if it had anything to do with the death of her husband. Andrea points out why she keeps stuff: Cody will grow into a big shirt. The erasers on these pencil stubs are still good (I find that hard to believe; erasers always run out before pencils do). Cody made something. Something else can be repaired. Violet asks Andrea how her life would be different if she threw this stuff out, but Andrea says she needs it in case she really does need it someday. She says she's not crazy.
Sloan Sloan's surgery. Sam comes in, and Addison asks if everything's okay. He says he is okay because now she can't walk away so he can talk to her, and he's making up the rules now. She asks if he's really going to talk about her personal life at work, and he says, "No, no, no, no. I am going to talk to you about ... dogs." Violet visits Cody at the hospital. He's worried about his mom, and just wants to go home. Violet asks him if he has any family around here he could go stay with while his mom cleans the house. He says he needs to be home with her to take care of her. Violet says she needs more help than he can give her, but he says she can't do that, because it would be like when his dad and sister died. Violet asks about that, and Cody says his parents were divorced and his dad had them on weekends, but he was sick so he stayed home with his mom. And his dad ran off the road and they both died, so he has to stay with his mom.
In surgery, Sam says that golden retrievers are like labs: people dogs. They're all about pleasing you and making you happy, despite neglect or walking all over them. Addison operates as Sam goes on that he'd be happy if she took up with a golden or a lab, or even a schnauzer. But Sloan: "Sloan is a dachshund. Dachshunds like to eat poop, right up off the street. Other dogs' poop." They're more concerned with themselves than with making anyone else happy. They're filthy and immoral. He says the owners of dachshunds are desperate for affection, but it's the wrong kind of affection. Beeping starts, and Addison says the AVM just blew and she can't see a thing. Sam: "With the baby still inside her?" Um, was he not clear about this surgery? The baby was never coming out, was it?
Addison's stressing out after surgery, but she assures Sam it's not his fault since she's capable of operating and talking simultaneously. Mark comes in and yells at Addison for blowing the AVM. She says Sloan Sloan will be fine, and hopefully the baby will be too. Mark's freaking out, so Addison asks him to go away so that Sloan Sloan doesn't wake up, in bad shape after surgery, and see him looking terrified. Sam and Naomi talk Mark into leaving for a walk with Naomi. He tells Addison to "fix this," and then Addison tells Sam the baby has to be okay. Sam says he will, and then she tells him she cares about Mark, that she loved him once, and he was their best friend. She acknowledges he's done a lot of stupid things, but says he also let all of them do stupid things with no judgment. Addison says he has a screwed-up moral compass, but so does she. And he's a good man.
Coop and Violet discuss the sister, whom neither of them knew Cody ever had, as they head to his room. Violet thinks it's the root of the problem. When they get to Cody's room, though, a nurse tells them his mom already took him home. Uh-oh. Coop's calling DCFS, despite Violet's protests. She says the best thing for Cody would be to have a healthy mother, and the best thing for Cooper would be to stop displacing his anger. He says he's looking out for what's best for Cody, but Violet says ripping him from his mother, breaking his heart, and putting him in foster care isn't the best thing. She tells him to get a grip and deal with his problems. Cooper asks why Charlotte lied to him, and Violet says to talk to Charlotte, because she's out. He points out all he's ever done is listen to Violet talk about men, but she says, "Look how well that worked out. ... I am super normal." Cooper acknowledges her point. She says to talk to Charlotte and work it out or not, but not with Violet. He says he's calling DCFS as he walks off.
Naomi's. Dell, Maya, Betsey, and Naomi are at breakfast, and Naomi wonders why they're eating in silence yet again. Maya asks to be excused, and Naomi asks her to tell her what's going on. Betsey asks to be excused, too, and Naomi lets them both go. Naomi tells Dell that at least he knows why his isn't speaking to him. He says he didn't kill Heather, and he's going to say it to Betsey because she has to grow up at some point. Naomi reminds him again that she's seven, but he says he can't keep feeling like the enemy. Naomi tells him that maybe Betsey just needs an apology, but Dell says he did the right thing since Heather's face was burned off from getting high. Naomi says she's been really gentle, but she's not going to anymore, so she tells him the truth, which is that she thinks he made the wrong decision, that he should have let Betsey say goodbye to her mother, that Pete was right, and that he owes Pete an apology, and Betsey too. She says she would be pissed if she were Betsey, at 7 or 37.
Addison's there when Sloan Sloan wakes up from surgery. She tells Sloan Sloan she
