Dell's awake with a bandaged head, wondering why no one took a picture of someone drilling a hole in his head. Charlotte tells him to get some sleep. Violet whispers that Cooper proposed, and Dell whispers, "That's crazy." Dell says, "Ow," and Charlotte asks what. He has a killer headache, so she has him hold his hands up and he can't hold one of them up. She makes a panicked phone call about a head CT. She's holding a scan up for Little Shephard in her operating room. She thinks they have to crack the patient's head open, and Charlotte asks if she can do it after this surgery. Addison says Little Shephard's had a long night, and to page someone else. Then Charlotte says, "It's Dell. The patient's Dell." Little Shephard says she'll be out as soon as she can. Addison looks sad, and Fife says it's a crap day.

Charlotte's all fake happy in Dell's room, telling him what's going and how she's going to give him a buzz cut to work with the ladies and that Little Shephard will operate. She is being so nice and happy that he obviously knows he's doomed. He says Betsey's at home with a sitter, and he asks them to bring her here. Violet says it's the middle of the night, but Charlotte interrupts, "Violet. Get Betsey." Pete says he'll go. Violet holds Dell's hand and he cries and tells her he got into medical school at UCLA. She's proud, and you can tell it makes him very sad. Back in surgery, the baby's heart rate is low, so Addison tells her she has to get out. It's pretty much a pointless scene other than to make us think that Maya or the baby might die.
