Hospital the next day. Addison accuses Mark of being drunk the night before, talking about moving his whole life down here. He says that wasn't drunk talk, but he doesn't want to talk about it now since she should focus on the surgery. Charlotte comes up to ask Addison how long she'll need the O.R., then asks "Who's hot stuff?" Addison introduces them. Mark says, "Plastics," and Charlotte replies, "Sexology." Mark loves L.A. That makes one of us. He tells Charlotte he is considering moving here, and Charlotte says she's been saying they need a plastics guy. Mark says they can talk after his daughter's surgery, but Addison says now is good since Mark's not allowed within 1,000 feet of her O.R. She tells Charlotte not to let him join the practice while she's in surgery.
Hoarder House. Violet picks up some of the piled-up crap and asks Andrea if she remembers when this first started, and if it had anything to do with the death of her husband. Andrea points out why she keeps stuff: Cody will grow into a big shirt. The erasers on these pencil stubs are still good (I find that hard to believe; erasers always run out before pencils do). Cody made something. Something else can be repaired. Violet asks Andrea how her life would be different if she threw this stuff out, but Andrea says she needs it in case she really does need it someday. She says she's not crazy.
Sloan Sloan's surgery. Sam comes in, and Addison asks if everything's okay. He says he is okay because now she can't walk away so he can talk to her, and he's making up the rules now. She asks if he's really going to talk about her personal life at work, and he says, "No, no, no, no. I am going to talk to you about ... dogs." Violet visits Cody at the hospital. He's worried about his mom, and just wants to go home. Violet asks him if he has any family around here he could go stay with while his mom cleans the house. He says he needs to be home with her to take care of her. Violet says she needs more help than he can give her, but he says she can't do that, because it would be like when his dad and sister died. Violet asks about that, and Cody says his parents were divorced and his dad had them on weekends, but he was sick so he stayed home with his mom. And his dad ran off the road and they both died, so he has to stay with his mom.
In surgery, Sam says that golden retrievers are like labs: people dogs. They're all about pleasing you and making you happy, despite neglect or walking all over them. Addison operates as Sam goes on that he'd be happy if she took up with a golden or a lab, or even a schnauzer. But Sloan: "Sloan is a dachshund. Dachshunds like to eat poop, right up off the street. Other dogs' poop." They're more concerned with themselves than with making anyone else happy. They're filthy and immoral. He says the owners of dachshunds are desperate for affection, but it's the wrong kind of affection. Beeping starts, and Addison says the AVM just blew and she can't see a thing. Sam: "With the baby still inside her?" Um, was he not clear about this surgery? The baby was never coming out, was it?
