And the Winner is ... Cooper Freedman

Police examination room. A detective shows Cooper a printout of calls to Lynne's cell phone in the last two hours. The most recent one was from a pay phone in L.A. It was Evan, who asked Lynne to stop looking for him, so Cooper and his dad won't get in trouble. The detective says aiding and abetting a kidnapping carries a sentence of five to eleven years, and can't be good for your medical license. But they don't want Cooper, so if he'll give up Evan and his dad, they'll let him go. Coop opts to wait for his lawyer, as the music heats up.

Back at Oceanside, detectives are cleaning out Cooper's office. Addison tells the others (Violet, Sam, Dell) that the detectives think Cooper knows where the kids is. Sam says it's been a year, and Addison says, "But ... it's Cooper. Do you really think they're wrong?" Sam says Cooper did know Evan was kidnapped last year. Addison's disgusted: "And you knew about this?" Dell says it doesn't mean he knows where they are now. Violet says Charlotte and the lawyers will figure this out, then says Cooper gave medical service to a patient who needed it and wonders what jury would convict him for that?

Fife's talking Pete through his crazy procedure in an operating room, when he decides to take a conversational detour about his own school of medicine, which isn't the "warm, fuzzy" one of Pete and Naomi. His is more "get things done." Pete thinks you can do both, so Fife asks if that's why he took Fife's side over Naomi's. Pete says it's about his patients, and Fife says Naomi cares about patients, but sometimes she cares more about getting her way, at least when it comes to Fife. Pete says he hadn't noticed, but Fife says he did. Then Fife arrogantly tells him to sit back and watch science in action.

Jail visiting room. Charlotte tells Cooper they won't set bail until after the grand jury hearing tomorrow. He looks worried, but he tells her it's not about being in jail but about Evan, who might have a kidney infection. She's like, "So it's okay when you lie?" And Cooper points out the lying about being married and helping a patient are two different things. She reminds him he's in jail, and he needs to give Evan up. Cooper can't send him back to his stepfather to be abused. He asks Charlotte to pick up Evan's labs, and he'll get him whatever he needs as soon as he's bailed out. She protests she's not committing a felony to protect Evan, but he tells her she owes him this, and you know she'll do it.
