Laura's dress is next. It's a super-pale pink that almost seems flesh-toned on a redhead like Laura. It's a knee-length cocktail dress. The front is kind of halter-styled, with pleating along the straps. At the waist, the fabric wraps tightly and is tied in the back. She looks really lovely. Her hair is down and gorgeous. She seems really comfortable. She interviews that she hopes that she looks pregnant and not chubby (she looks pregnant). She feels that the execution of her garment was flawless.
Here's Michael. He has made some seersucker cargo pants with interesting (yet ultimately useless) straps hanging off of them. He made a shirt with a band collar that zips halfway down the front of the shirt. It's all very hip and current. Michael interviews that he was more excited to walk the runway than he was to make the outfit, because he wanted "to get a little shine on."
Here's our Kayne of Many Colors. From the front, he looks a little bit like a waiter. Fitted black slacks, black oxford shirt. He's wearing a rhinestone-studded belt buckle that reads "Kayne." From the back? Holy shit, that junk is busted! He chose the ugliest print ever. Uli is a Pilgrim next to that shit. He interviews that he liked his design and felt very comfortable in it. ["Interesting, because to me he looked terrified and was walking like he had to poo." -- Sars] It's odd how sometimes people self-destruct a little bit on this show. Wouldn't you think that he would become a little more tasteful as the show progressed, as opposed to the other way around?
Uli is next and is really, really German. She may be wearing a bright and happy calico dress, but she's marching like she's just been told that her David Hasselhoff record collection was sold at her mom's Garagen Salen. The dress is okay. It's a halter-styled dress, with panels of different prints all the way to the floor. It looks a little too heavy, but Uli looks lovely in it. The back is pretty too, with a lot of skin exposed beneath crossing straps. She interviews that she feels her dress is pretty and functional. She does a high kick behind the scrim when she walks back, which is really funny.
On the runway, Heidi tells them that they are all getting questions. Uli tells the judges that her dress is ready to party. Francisco says that it's over the top. Michael says that Uli's dress will work in Miami, L.A., the Caribbean, south of France... but nowhere else. Isn't that like half of the planet? Uli says that those are the places that she's going to. Well, then, Michael breaks it down and tells her that they've seen her happy print dresses. They want to see something else.
