Emanda gets led into the safe room by Dmitri. He's smugly impressed that she saved his life, but stops at saying as much, being satisfied with chauvinistic condescension. Before he can get fresh with her, there's a knock at the big, secure door behind him. Tonight, he'll have to attend to business before pleasure, he says. Ew. Dmitri inputs a code on the door's keypad, which Emanda memorizes, then disappears. Ems immediately radios Takeda to tell him the situation, including Aiden's attempted assassination, and give him the access code. You should always keep in mind that during these conversations Takeda is just aimlessly strolling around a dock in broad daylight, looking completely ridiculous because it appears that he's just very seriously barking orders at himself. He tells Ems to carry on with her mission as planned, but she insists she has to help Aiden because he helped her. She'll be back in contact with Takeda when she finds him, she says as she eyes a nearby air vent.
Marco strolls into Nolan's office after hours in all his geeky glory, full three-piece suit and all. Nolan says he thought Marco would be spending the holidays with someone special, to which Marco awkwardly replies that he plans to. They simultaneously get a little mushy as Nolan steps aside to reveal a platter of very expensive-looking sushi. Nolan: "Admittedly, a little untraditional, but so are we." It's a very cheesy line, but it's unbelievably sweet coming from Nolan. Marco pulls a gift from behind his back, saying Nolan always looks out for everyone else and he wants to look out for him. It's a toy robot called "Zoltan, Galaxy Defender" that inspired Nolan to begin programming. It's something Nolan mentioned on their first date. Their moment is interrupted by Marco's phone, a call he has to take because it's their new accounting firm. Marco lays a kiss on Nolan before leaving to take the call. Nolan is completely content in this moment. That's what sucks about flashbacks. You know something bad's coming.
Conrad, Victoria, Marion and Ben sit in the living room together in front of the fireplace at Grayson Manor. Conrad inquires about Marion and Ben meeting. They met on a cruise Marion planned to take with her dearly departed husband. They happened to have suites next to each other. Victoria remarks that almost sounds planned, so Marion throws her a death stare. When Ben and Conrad leave the room to refresh everyone's drinks, Marion starts in on Victoria that she's wrong for thinking she has ulterior motives with Ben. Victoria asks her mother if doing what she had to do to be with her last husband was worth it. Marion wouldn't change a thing. In fact, she feels Victoria owes her for her current status of being the matriarch of one of the wealthiest families in the country. The suggestion that Victoria so easily landed on her feet back then upsets her as Marion leaves the room. Conrad returns and notices his wife is shaken. As this is before all of the animosity between the Graysons, Conrad sweetly offers to send Marion and Ben home if she doesn't want to go through with their dinner. Victoria gathers herself and insists they go on with it.
