Brooke explains the finale rules. Tonight, her envelope contains the names of the bottom two, as opposed to the usual bottom three. Which tonight would leave out only one Supernovice, so that wouldn't work, I guess. Each of the bottom two will sing a song for "the band," who will then eliminate one of them. Then the final three will each sing again, and "the guys" will then choose a winner.
Brooke again tells us the voting was both record-breaking and close, as always. So now it's time to find out who all was in the bottom two at some point during the voting. The first to stand is Magni, who tells everyone not to "oooh" at him. Then Toby's up, to general shock and consternation. Because we all know that Lukas was in third place early on last night, we're not surprised when he stands up as well. And by "we," I mean "people not in the live audience." They're plenty surprised. So Dilana's safe for now. First in the bottom two? Magni.
Magni says goodbye to the other three ex-Supernovices like he's never going to see them again (not bloody likely) and joins Brooke onstage. "I'm gonna do 'Fire' again. Is that okay with everyone?" he asks. Everyone seems okay with it. There are lots of Icelandic flags and ICE MAN signs waving in the audience right now. Magni doffs his white suit jacket and straps on his sunburst Les Paul, and he and the House Band are off. And I do mean off. It's noticeably slower this time than when he did this a couple of weeks ago, which makes it hard to keep the energy up. There's a fancy new backdrop behind the stage, about a dozen or so light columns that alternately depict flames and sound levels. Magni and Rafael the Lead Guitarist co-solo a couple of times, so we can see how much better Magni's hair looks than Rafael's. I think they almost make out at one point.
After Magni's done, Toby and Lukas are still standing, and it's the former who's called over to give a bottom-two performance. Toby heads over in this complicated, high-collared black shirt that makes him look like some kind of spaghetti Western/James Bond villain, and says he's going to do some Billy Idol. More specific, please? Oh, apparently the House Band knows, because they launch right into "White Wedding." Which is still too low for Toby, and I can't imagine that stiff collar helps him any. The light columns go crazy. And believe it or not, Toby actually confines himself to the stage. I was thinking that if Dilana really wanted to sabotage him this week, she should have them set up a jungle gym onstage and leash Toby to it. That wouldn't have made much difference this week. Oh, except then he jumps off the end of the runway on the last "Start agaaaain." It's like the stage is too hot for him to stay on it very long or something. After he's done, Brooke claims that "Tommy, Jason, and Gilby" are "deciding" who's going home next. As if the order hasn't been determined since the elimination of Zayra.
