Commercials. Wendy's. Is there really much more to say, in the form of advertising, about a hamburger?
Smallville Medical Center. It's almost like we've been here before. Bow Wow is lying in a hospital bed. I'd be lying if I said I thought there was any other reason for this scene other than it being Bow Wow. Gotta keep those guest stars happy! He wakes up. "What happened?" he asks. Not, "What network is this? The CW? NOOOOO!" Clark, wearing his red checkerboard tablecloth shirt, says Bow Wow is in a hospital in Kansas. One that everybody in town goes to almost every single day. "Kansas?" Bow Wow asks for the first of many times. Clark asks if Bow Wow knows how he got here. Bow Wow says there's no beach here and that Kansas is strictly "fly-over." Clark smiles at that for some dumb reason. Clark tells Bow Wow that he's been here for the last six weeks. Bow Wow goes, "SIX WEEKS!?" Bow Wow says that last thing he remembers is playing ball with his boy. Oh, yeah, about the boy...er...he kind of got disintegrated. It's a long story. There'll be a recap, don't worry. Bow Wow can't remember anything after that. He looks at Clark. "Am I supposed to know you?" he asks. Clark says no. He introduces himself. I try to work up the energy for a Gayest Look of the Episode here, but it just doesn't happen. Sorry, folks. Clark says that he brought Bow Wow to the hospital. He gets points for referrals on his credit card. Bow Wow says this is crazy. Clark agrees. Clark says the doctors think he'll be all right. Parents? Siblings? Family of any kind? Legal guardian? Bow Wow thinks he must have Clark to thank for being safe. Clark smiles. "Kansas, huh?" Bow Wow says. "Kansas," Clark repeats. But don't get used to it. The distances in this state don't make any sense. And thus ends the most pointless, padded scene of the episode. I hope it was worth the expense. I would have been fine with more commercials.
Daily Planet. Chloe is pouring herself some coffee. Jimmy comes out of an office looking dejected. Chloe recognizes the look and figures his meeting with the editor didn't go well. Jimmy is upset that they refused to put someone on his Lex Luthor Egyptian conspiracy story. Surprising. Jimmy insists he had proof. Chloe suggests it wasn't exactly proof, but she does think he was on to something. She says she's sorry. Jimmy says that wasn't the worst of it. Chloe says he can't be demoted since he's at the bottom rung. Jimmy says that Lex made a call and that it got him fired. Jimmy says he managed to talk his way back into the job, but that he'll have to work down in the basement. Chloe says not to knock the basement. She smiles. That brightens Jimmy up a bit. Jimmy whines that he'll be scanning photos into the archive for the rest of his life. Chloe insists that he won't; she thinks Lex's actions mean Jimmy was doing a great job. She puts her arms around him and says he'll be a great photographer one day. Hopefully without Chloe having to prop him up so much.
