Talon. Lois's apartment. Lois has her arm in a sling. Clark tells her to lay off the arm wrestling for a while. Lois says that her arm is fine; what hurts is knowing how she treated Shardy. It didn't seem that different from the way she treats everyone else, honestly. Clark says it goes to show that people aren't always who you think they are. Lois gives Clark props for being a natural with kids. Clark says that Shardy is pretty special, and that she's going to go live with her grandmother, who's thrilled to have a grandkid. Clark says that Glasshole Granny is excited the way his parents were when they adopted him. Lois says that they didn't have to worry about having their house destroyed. Just then, MamaKent appears at the door in time to say, "Well, he had his moments." MamaKent, wearing a smart long coat, greets Clark, and then hands over a folder of papers for Lois to read. MamaKent says that the chief of staff for a state senator has to be fully informed on all sides of the issues. Clark is like, "Wha?" Lois asks whether MamaKent wants her to be her chief of staff. Clark, standing, asks if MamaKent doesn't want to think this through. MamaKent says that if it wasn't for Lois, Bo Duke would never have been elected, and MamaKent wouldn't be in office. She says it's pretty clear that Lois's destiny lies far beyond a cappuccino maker. I wish it only went as far as the fry station. "What do you think?" MamaKent asks. Lois smiles.
