Talon apartment. Lois and Perry arrive to find the place in ruins. Picture frames are askew on the walls, furniture has been overturned. Also, there appears to be a Mountie-style hat on the floor. What the hell? Perry takes it all in and says, "Well, either you've been robbed or I missed one hell of a party." They both get excited when they realize this means they're a threat because of the story they're working on. Lois digs around in her closet for the special Checkmate cellphone she's got stashed in the bra portion of her Wonder Woman costume. "Hope this gets us to the Red Queen," Perry says. "She showed up around the same time Waller disappeared. Maybe she's taken over Checkmate's network." The flimsy attempt to explain why a Checkmate phone would reach an enemy of Checkmate is appreciated, but still: dumb. Lois dials and immediately starts hounding a guy who answers as "Taco Dan's." She babbles at approximately 400mph about the Book of Rao and the alien invasion and the kaploded castle. Lois demands a meeting with the Red Queen. Perry, taking the phone, adds, "Or else we'll yank Her Majesty off the chessboard and put her on the front page of the Daily Planet." Taco Dan hangs up. Lois: "Maybe that really was a Mexican restaurant." But a moment later, the phone beeps. Taco Dan gives them the coordinates to meet the Red Queen. Maybe she'll bring gorditas.
Metropolis. Clark catches up to Vala on the city streets beneath the monorail, but she doesn't want anything to do with him. "You killed my sister!" Pretty sure Zod said that Faora was killed by a human. Nonetheless, she seems a mite pissed as she tries to super-zip away. Clark zips in front of her, stopping her. "You don't really believe that, do you?" She sighs and asks him what he wants. "Tell me everything you know about the Book of Rao." The Book of Rao is long and boring. No one can lift the damn thing. It's full of charts and facts and figures, and instructions for dancing. She tells him, "It's the Kandorian bible, and it has all the knowledge and power of Rao." She very sincerely tells him it will destroy their lives here on Earth. Clark thinks about that for a second. "Does Zod have it?" Dude, don't you think he'd be doing something dastardly with it right now if he did? Vala says he's looking for it, but that danged Red Queen keeps blocking his moves. Vala thinks the Red Queen is none other than Tess Mercer. Clark looks ever so slightly confused, because he saw the promos that spoiled the reveal. When his cell phone rings, Vala zips away. Clark answers to Chloe telling him that she's picking up "high-level chatter" about Perry and Lois going to meet the Red Queen. Does the Red Queen have a Twitter account or something? They're worried that if the Red Queen is Tess, Perry and Lois are in trouble. Nah, they're comics canon; they'll be fine. Take your time finding them. In fact, take the whole commercial break!
