Clark zips over to the cross where Lois is somehow not burned up like a Cajun catfish. Weirdly, he whooshes around, stamping out the fire and then pulls her down off the cross. He lays her down in a clearing, then zips off toward Metropolis. There's an explosion at the base of the Daily Planet's signature globe. Since people drive back and forth from Smallville to Metropolis all the time in a matter of minutes, it's no surprise that Clark is able to speedily reach the city. His trip is chronicled for us in slo-mo, first as he zooms through the crowded street and then as he unnecessarily uses a parked taxi as a springboard. He vaults into the air, catches the globe, and then rockets it back up to the roof. He poses there with the world on his shoulders like a moody Atlas, much to the cheering adoration of the crowd below.
