The Talon. Daytime. Sheriff Cheshire is at the counter, sipping a tall cup of coffee. Clark walks in behind her, carrying the scarf. Narc! Narc! The sheriff asks if Clark is there to see MamaKent. "She has almost got that latte machine down," Cheshire says, enjoying her drink. Clark shows Cheshire the scarf, and says he found it in Jason's car after the attack. Shouldn't he have, you know, left evidence there for the police to deal with? "You flip-flop more than a politician, Mr. Kent," says Cheshire. She asks if Clark now thinks that KentFan is guilty. "Maybe," Clark says. Cheshire says she's already been "down that road." Cheshire was interrogating KentFan the night before, during the attack. "There's no way KentFan could have done it," Cheshire says. She leaves Clark to stew on that bit of hard truth for a while. Clark touches the scarf for comfort.
