And then we're down to the last couples of the dance, Jeanine and Brandon, who are doing a Louis Van Amstel paso doble. Brandon says there are a lot of crazy tricks and the dance is fast, and Jeanine says there are lifts she's never tried and she's becoming well-acquainted with the floor.
The stage is in shadows, the dancers are in black, and hey, they're dancing to the traditional paso doble music on The Matrix soundtrack! Jeanine is very bendy, as she gets dipped practically bent over backwards. There is some swinging of her around on the floor and some high kicks from Brandon. I feel like there should be bullets flying in slow motion throughout this piece, you know? Well done, nice capper to end the show.
A standing ovation from the audience, and Adam says the dancers filled out all the small parts in between the moves, so the movement never ended, and singles out an assisted jete into a slide. "You guys, you shredded tonight," he says, and he congratulates them. Mary just screams, and then talks about what a close friend Louis is, so you know when she calls the routine "phenomenal" that she's not biased at all. She praises their syncopated moves and promenade, and says the portrayal of the paso doble. And then she does her thing where she can't just scream, but has to turn to each judge for encouragement before she shreds our eardrums. Nigel jokingly screams as well, before settling down and saying the dancers carried it off, and says Brandon was like a racehorse who wanted to bust through and carry off that woman and do things with her, and then he admits to wanting to do it too, and then I couldn't hear the rest of it because I started throwing up and didn't stop for at least half an hour.
Then Cat asks the judges who they think will win. Adam just lists nice things about everyone, so Cat asks Mary if she can be "more of a man than Adam," and Mary just screams a bunch of things that don't include a prediction. Nigel says nice things about Evan and Kayla, but at least narrows it down to predicting it will be either Brandon or Jeanine, which earns a hearty cheer from the audience. I'll narrow it down and predict Jeanine, but it's easy for me to do that since no one gives a shit what I think (nor should they).
