Next is a guest performance by international b-boy sensation Jon Sook, who dazzles the crowd by dancing on his one leg, using arm crutches and any variety of tricks. It's pretty great.
Chehon's video journey revisits Nigel's jokily ho-hum reaction to his audition, which still kind of annoys me. Never be even fake bored by excellence, Nigel! You're setting a bad example. Anyway, Chehon said the show helped him learn to be a weirdo. He really seems to have a special place for Stacey for bringing the best out of him. And then we revisit Chehon's mom, who is still so wonderful I could die. His solo is performed to the Devotchka song from Little Miss Sunshine, the one Neil and Kent danced to back in Season 7. It's not a particularly great solo, but he's set a high standard for himself, so I'll cut him a break.
Eliana and Alex Wong (season 7): Contemporary (Travis Wall)
Eliana is so psyched to work with Travis, understandably. The music is the Harry Nilsson version of "Without You," and their performance here -- and well as a few weeks ago -- has me imagining these two as a pair in a dream season where Alex came back and avoided injury for a whole year.
They get a standing ovation. "You move your legs the way other people move their arms," Cat tells Eliana, which is frighteningly accurate. Nigel says it was his favorite routine of the night (he seems to love the song as well), and then goes on to say Eliana is his favorite OF ALL TIME on this show. Meanwhile, Mary's voice gets thick talking about Alex, which is sweet. He really should have been so much more on his own season. Dumb injury.
