Hey, did you know that the winner of this show gets to be on the cover of "Dance Spirit" magazine? Did you know that magazine even existed? Well, it does and they do. So there.

Ellenore and Jakob are back together, doing a Tyce Diorio Broadway routine. It's to "I Gotcha" from Fosse. So watch for Jakob to do a lot of kicks. Wait. This is a recap. I'll watch. Then, if they happen, I'll tell you about it. They're both in spangly black, and they seem to be in sync. There's no story (as far as I can tell) but there are a few leaps and flips. And sexy-eye-making at the camera. At one point, Jakob is leaping in the middle of the stage while Ellenore is off to the side flapping her arms around in a weird motion. I'm sure it's what Tyce told her to do, but it's kind of weird. There were a few kicks, but mostly by Ellenore.

Judges! Nigel liked that Ellenore was "Fosse-esque" while Jakob was "Jakob-esque". In Fosse's day, the dancers weren't as ridiculously strong and acrobatic as they are these days, you know. Mary praises the way Ellenore smoldered. Adam has a reference to "Everything Old Is New Again", and also loves how selfless Jakob is as a partner, and we see the choreographers applauding. Sonya and Tyce definitely agree with that comment. I would love to get comments from the choreographers about which dancers they like the best.

Speaking of Sonya, she is responsible for the lyrical jazz number that Ashleigh and Russell will now be performing. How lyrical? Well, it's to "Angel Standing By" by Jewel. Ashleigh appears to fling Russell around the stage, which I like. It's a nice reversal of the usual technique. There are also a few spots where Ashleigh mirrors Russell's movements while directly behind him. I think there's a chance an angel given the song choice and since she's in a white slip (it might even be diaphanous, but don't quote me on that). It's very pretty.

Nigel felt that the routine was all about Russell and actually apologizes to Ashleigh before talking a lot about him. That's a nice change, since normally if he wants to talk exclusively about one dancer, he just goes ahead and does it. Mary starts on Ashleigh and then gets choked up when she moves on to Russell. She has trouble getting out the words when she praises his growth. Adam thanks Sonya for the routine and describes Ashleigh as the "guardian angel of the routine". Nigel points out that the costume department must be running out of money, since Russell is as shirtless as Ryan was. And the women have been showing some skin as well.
