Cole has the daunting task of having to follow that routine but he's paired up with Melanie to do a Sonya jazz routine. After having embodied hate, addiction and sadism in his last few routines she wants to soften him up but he's still not really part of a feel-good routine since it's all about Melanie wanting to leave him and his not being able to let her go. They dance to "Too Close" by Alex Clare or, as I know it, That Song From The Microsoft Commercial. The routine is very Sonya with lots of grasping desperation conveyed in big movements with dramatic pauses while electronic music plays. Interestingly, Melanie lifts Cole as many times, if not more, than he lifts her. It was good, well danced, and Melanie is always amazing, but there wasn't anything terribly new or exciting about it.

Mary thought it was gorgeous and different and thought Cole kept up with Melanie (which admits not the norm for her partners). Christina fawns over Melanie and then heaps praise on her and Cole for the awesome androgyny of the routine. Wow, Fox doesn't let her even spell out "shit," which is what she didn't give about his awful foot position in the pirouette. Nigel says he liked gender role reversal in the piece, which I think is a positive step for him. I feel, though, that this could be the end of the road for Cole with the way Nigel says he has been so happy to have him here on the show.

Eliana and Twitch are up next to do some Christopher Scott hip-hop about a hot ballet dancer with a crush on the mailman, of course. The song is "Please Mr. Postman (District 78 Remix)" by The Marvelettes. It starts out jazzy but then some more hip-hop moves are thrown in, though there's one awkward moment where I think a move was botched as Twitch tried to pull Eliana up off of the ground. I hate to say this because she is my favorite but think this is her weakest so far on the show. Christina's biggest critique is that Eliana wouldn't be cast in Jay-Z video but tells her she could still watch her dance anything because she's just so fun. Nigel repeats that Eliana is his favorite girl but did think the routine relied more on comedy and less on dance and the last time that happened, she landed in the bottom and had to be saved by the judges. Mary says that she found it really entertaining, but most of her praise is just for Eliana's talent in general and it's obvious she didn't love this particular number.
