Jax then heads out to church. Guitar music starts up and we see... Bobby Elvis doing his best Jailhouse Rock impression by playing guitar in his cell.
Montage, set to a dirge-like rendition "The House of the Rising Son." Clay alone in his hospital bed. Gemma sitting in the swings at the biker playground, burning the incriminating letters. (I hope like hell that Tara made a set of backup copies.) Juice sitting on his bed -- and boy howdy, kudos to the set decorator because they have nailed the "bachelor man-child goes dumpster diving for his furniture" aesthetic -- and looking at the folder, the contents of which drove him to lie, steal and kill. After a moment, he sets aside the photo of his father and rips up the file before picking up his cut and heading out. Jax, making both motorcycle riding sans helmet and smoking look very cool. Unser smoking a joint. (Presumably off-camera: the giant bag of Cheetos immediately to his left.) Of note: Unser is toking up in the Morrow house.
We're still montage-ing away. Jax has deposited the letters in his toolbox, then locked them up. Gemma watches him furtively from the office.
Then we get a setpiece: Jax at the entrance to the clubhouse, with all eyes on him. Jax then heads into church and takes his place at the head of the table. We get a long shot of him sitting at the head of the table, twiddling the president's patch before finally laying it on the table in front of him. It's a shot that's eerily reminiscent of Michael Corleone taking his seat at the end of The Godfather.
And continuing in that vein, Michael Corleone fires Tom Hagen -- I mean, Jax breaks the news to Tig that he will not be resuming his duties as sergeant at arms for the new regime. Chibs is the man now. Tig takes the news with a surprising amount of dignity; Chibs is totally fine with the new position. The rest of the club stands in the door. Jax smiles humorlessly and gestures for them to come in. Happy, smiling slightly, does. There are so few of them at the table now -- just Jax, Chibs, Tig, Happy and Juice. As Juice walks to his seat, Jax asks if Juice is all straightened out. We see Juice in his cut, the Men of Mayhem patch taking pride of place, and he says, "Yeah. I'm good."
There are empty seats where Piney, Kozik and Opie are not. It becomes evident that Opie won't show up, so Jax takes up the gavel and bangs it. The door opens --
-- but it's Tara. Jax indicates that it's okay for her to come in, and Tara walks to his side, then sinks to her knees. The two touch foreheads as Tara whispers, "I'm not going anywhere. I'm here, baby. I'm here." And thus we have SEASON FOUR PLOT REWINDOMATIC USE #5.
