Brooke then calls Nicole at Uno's and tells her that Tim called. "Did he ask for me?" asks Nicole. "Um…no," says Brooke. Brooke then tells us that she doesn't know how she got in the middle of this whole love triangle; she didn't ask to be part of it and doesn't know how to get out of it now. Brooke seems like the kind of girl who just goes through life trying so hard not to get involved and then can't believe how life keeps pushing itself onto her. It's admirable, but ultimately she's going to be horribly disappointed in life. Brooke tells Nicole to call Tim. Nicole hangs up and tells her dinner crew, including Mackenzie, what Tim called Brooke for. In her recap, though, Nicole says that Tim said, "Nicole, too," in reference to going out to dinner -- which he didn't say, so either Brooke or Nicole is lying to protect Nicole's feelings. Poor Nicole. "He's not asking her on a date!" says Nicole to Mackenzie's question. Afterwards, there is a long silence. Everyone at the table looks away, whistling. Nicole calls Tim.
Smegma Chai. The phone rings. Someone calls out, "Swimfan!" which must be their code for "Nicole is calling Tim." That's fucking funny. (If that's not what was said, it should be.) Nicole needs a fucking manicure, by the way. Nicole tells Tim that Brooke was confused. Someone says to Nicole, "Get off the phone and eat." Hee. Everyone is laughing and shaking their heads at Nicole in pity. Tim is silent when Nicole explains the situation. Nicole has to ask again if he was going to invite her too. Tim does the whole assholish "What's that?" pretending-not-to-hear thing that I've been told I do, but I totally don't. Tim finally answers, "You can come along if you want." Nicole's man face drops. Nicole tells the table what he said. Anthony-Rapp-boy across the table laughs. Mackenzie smirks, trying not to catch her eye.
Pledge house. Brooke is on Hotmail when Mackenzie comes in. Brooke admits that Tim was totally asking her out, but she didn't want to tell Nicole because she'd flip, and also it wouldn't get her to stop talking to him anyway. Good fucking point. Maggie walks in, and they tell her. Her Gigantic Boobies of Hatred drop in disbelief. Brooke: "But I didn't even do anything!" Brooke camera-prisses that she wasn't going to say anything, but then it would seem like she was hiding something. More talky-talky between the girls. Mackenzie hates Tim and hates that Nicole still likes him.
Uno's. Nicole has cleared the entire restaurant with her talk of Tim, so only Natalie is left. Nicole is now crying. Natalie breaks it down and explains to Nicole that what Tim said was meant to show Nicole that they're not together. Really. They're so not together. Kristen Scott Thomas and I are dating just as much as she and Tim are. Me and Britney Spears are as much an item. "But I don't understand why he would do that," Nicole says again. I'm so fucking done with her, man. Seriously. Nicole then says she has a feeling that she and Tim are going to be something when the whole pledging thing is over. Yeah, they're going to be two people who aren't together.
