Word of mouth

Jeremy banished, Dana cuts right to the chase and says to Sally, "Did you sleep with my fiancé and then sleep with my anchor?" and she's sort of wasting time since she pretty much knows this happened. Sally takes offence at what she calls an "abrupt and impolite" question. Dana demands an answer. "I'm not prepared to stipulate that the answer to that question is any of your business," says Sally. Okay, when it comes to the anchor part, I agree. But I think it's safe to say that it is Dana's business when it comes to who sleeps with Gordon. Dana tells her to cut the crap, adding that this isn't a Noel Coward play. I wish I knew Noel Coward well enough to make a witty remark here. Sally stands up, dwarfing Dana, and points out that she's not her enemy and not on her staff, so she should reconsider her tone. Dana apologizes, and my hopes that they're going to rip each other's clothes off in a fight are fading fast. Still, Dana lays into Sally with all the anger and vitriol that she really should have unleashed on Gordon, despite Sally's protests that Gordon had told her they'd broken up. Sally decides she doesn't want to be scolded, and heads for the door. "I don't like territorial women, Sally," yells Dana, and Sally snarks that they probably won't be sharing a ride to the prom, then. And Dana brings up the fact that the organization is in trouble, and Sally "deliberately and maliciously" went out of her way..."To sleep with your boyfriend and your anchor?" finishes Sally. Dana says yes. Sally tells her she didn't have to go out of her way to "do either one," and I wonder if that's an intentional pun, because it's a pretty good one. Sally's about to lay into Dana for seeing Sally's personal life as an act of aggression when Dana abruptly says that Sally's right. Sally's a little taken aback as Dana, near tears, apologizes for coming in and attacking her. "Aren't I pathetic?" says Dana. Sally says she isn't. Then Sally gently says that Dana's not upset because Sally slept with Gordon; Dana's actually upset because Sally slept with Casey. This seems to hit Dana close to home, but she denies it, asking why she should care, since it was just one night. Sally tells her it was just one night with Gordon. Surprised, Dana asks how many times it was with Casey. Sally breaks the news that her liaison with Casey has been going on for the past two months. Dana's stunned. Then Sally starts explaining that her relationship with Casey mainly consists of late-night booty calls, and Dana tries to say that it's none of her business, but it's too late to stop Sally, who just now admits that Casey doesn't like her that much. And now the scene has done a complete 180, as Dana is now comforting Sally. Dana scoots off, leaving Sally staring through the window after her.
