Back in Abby's office, she is ha-ha-ing Dan for being lulled into revealing the outcome. "We were all lulled into it," says Dan. "What do you mean?" asks Abby. Flashback!
Dan is watching the monitor while the rest of the gang mingles. Dan's staring, since he didn't realize track and field athletes had opponents. An Austrian is preparing to jump. We hear that he is 19 and jumping in only his third world competition. One by one, the rest of the gang notice the Austrian getting ready to jump and they all start watching intently as though they sense something momentous is about to take place. The Austrian jumps and breaks Oscar's new record by a full three inches, or about 230 miles in track and field. Sad music plays. Jeremy leaves.
Cut to Jeremy creepily crouching in the rain on the exterior set. Jenny leaves the bar, not seeing him. Jeremy scarily pops open his umbrella and Jenny, although startled, does not spray this potential attacker with Mace or kick him in the balls or anything. Jeremy starts going on about what a nice umbrella it is. Jenny doesn't think he came back to talk about accessories, like what kind of a fashion victim considers an umbrella an accessory instead of an item with a designated and very practical function. Jeremy recaps the long jump story, then tells Jenny she can't tell anyone since he signed a non-disclosure form. You just know Jenny plans to use it as the plot of her next film, only I know the writers will have to struggle to include sex scenes that don't seem gratuitous. Jenny, arms crossed, semi-sneers that she and her friends don't sit around and talk about long jump competitions. Well, God forbid Jeremy should make any assumptions about what you and your friends do, Jenny, we all know how much you love that. Jeremy says the other thing was that, "I like you. I hurt your feelings. I came back to insist that you take my umbrella." Jenny says, "I think you came back here to be with me. But give me the damn umbrella," and greedily snatches it from him (uh, that's not a really vulgar pun or anything). Jeremy says "I've got an umbrella for you -- in my pants!" Well, of course he didn't say that, but I think it's really funny when people add "in my pants!" to seemingly innocuous statements. Jenny crosses the street and Jeremy yells after her that he's getting wet and he's fine with it and blah blah blah. Jenny decides to walk him home and Jeremy puts his arm around her waist all touchy-feely. This probably looks like the ending of many classic romantic movies, but it doesn't at all resemble the end of The Wild Bunch where everybody dies, which is kind of too bad.
