Before the dance begins, Janelle says that she needs to execute everything well. The dance commences and I still like it. Nick and Cody are in the front and they dominate. Cody is absolutely precise and in time with the music, but there isn't a lot of emotion coming out. While a little behind the beat, Nick is really fluid and expressive. Mochi's movement is great too, though for some reason she doesn't seem synchronized with the others. Maybe it's because she's so tiny? At the end of the piece, they all sort of pose and move a little. Miguel, who is wearing a necktie, removes the tie and stretches it out with his arms.
After the performance, Nomi says that she feels a little emotional. Vincent says that, in general, he was happy with all of the dancers. Straight away though, he tells Nick, whom he put through the ringer for weeks, that he looked gorgeous. Nick says that Vincent was right and he doesn't really like to emote all of the time. Nancy says that it's good that he heard, because for a while she thought that he was deaf. Nick replies, "What?" This gets a good laugh from Nancy. Toni, who seems a little wacky (and I like it), says that Nick really took a journey and found something within himself. She says it was wonderful to watch. Nick, who is pretty talky up there today, says that he has taken everything the judges have said to heart and feels like he's hitting his peak.
Toni tells Miguel that he was weak on his turns, but she liked his tableaux at the end of the piece. He's gotta get his turns together. Vincent says that Miguel makes choreography his own, which means his own lines. In a situation where everyone is supposed to be synchronized, that doesn't work. Miguel says that he's a mover and it comes from his gut. Then he starts crying. He says that he knows he talks a big game but dancing is the only thing he's confident about. It would "suck" if he didn't get to show them his solo. Nomi seems really touched and says, "OK."
Toni tells Janelle that she did some nice emotional work, but her knees and feet were bad. Vincent starts crying and says that seeing someone Janelle's age perform so openly is remarkable. OK, Vincent's kind of sweet, right? Nancy says that Janelle's transitions need work but she's on the right track. Janelle starts crying. She says she doesn't have the technique that "these wonderful dancers" have, but she has just as much heart. She says that this is her life.
Toni tells Mochi that she was beautiful. Nancy tells Mochi that she did a great job of putting her emotion into her performance. Nomi seems thrilled to see Mochi get this compliment. Mochi says that it's about living to the fullest on stage, and she feels like she did that tonight.
