The judges enter the stage and Nomi greets everyone. She introduces Vincent, Nancy, and Jordi. Nomi announces that Jessica has an inner ear infection and cannot perform. Miguel says (in like 7 interviews that are spliced to create this bit) that he wants to win to defeat Cody. If Cody wins three in a row, he will be devastated. Cody interviews that he is competitive and he has high expectations for himself. Oscar says that he doesn't want to let Mochi down (but he also mentions that he would like to be back in the competition). He's such a doll. Janelle interviews that she doesn't want to go home. Mochi feels like she's going to redeem herself.
They begin. And now, I must explain my rating for this episode. I understand that the weird game twist, the constant Miguel-bitching, the Cody-bashing, etc. in this episode were really annoying, but...I love this dance so much. It's longer than any number we've seen and so many people shine. I just really got a lot of joy for watching the performance. They start with the group dancing together and Miguel looks pretty sharp, maybe a touch quick. When they're dancing as a group, we see far too much of Miguel, which is annoying. Could someone show me to the person who is seriously overestimating Miguel's hold on the public's imagination? I'd like to set him or her straight. When they do that crazy lift, Miguel suddenly seems like the luckiest dancer in the world. He gets to remove all of the difficulty from his performance. Bully for him. But when they do their couple work, things get really awesome. Tovah and Cody are first and they are on fire. Beautiful lines, sharp turns. I love it. They look so hot together too. She does a kick behind her head that is ridiculous. Miguel and Miguel are next. They are OK. Really sharp movement and the acting and musicality are definitely there. What's not there is any real physical rigor. Nick and Adriana are next. Poor girl, we haven't heard word one from her in this episode, have we? Nick is really good. Adriana is really sharp, but she has a posture thing that bothers me. She makes Nick look good though. He doesn't really do that face work that he's be fretting about (except one moment where it looks like he's saying "ta da!" like a magician), but his body is really expressive.
