Who's Sorry Now?

WHOOSH! Jack once again pretends to mix up Matt and Danny's names as he lets them into his office on the Monday following the show. They make small talk about how Wes is doing, which serves to let us know that Matt and Danny are due to helm the show again this week. Jack tells them they're here because of something that aired on an AM radio station in Phoenix this morning. Jack plays a recording of the show, wherein the typically gasbaggy and right-leaning hosts make the usual jokes about California falling off into the Pacific because no one would miss it. This is a reference, of course, to the Rove sketch on Studio 60. The hosts say the sketch mocked "our nation's desire to unite, shoulder-to-shoulder, behind our President" as a "silly thing." Matt and Danny are like, "Yeah, they didn't like it. Big shock," but Jack tells them to listen further. The hosts go on to call out Matt by name and add him to their "Friends Of Osama" list, at which point they play a cheesy jingle for their little list of liberals who frighten them. So now Matt and Danny are interested, if only for the comedy of it all, but Jack still hasn't reached the part he's concerned about. That part is when the hosts name all the Studio 60 sponsors and call for them to pull their advertising from NBS. The sales people and the ad reps who didn't have a problem with the sketch on Friday? Well, they have a problem with it now. Jack says Matt's going to need to apologize, though Matt really doesn't think so. Jack says if Matt doesn't apologize, Jack's not going to fire Matt; he's going to fire Danny. See, he's taking his business strategy from Hollywood thrillers. Who says movies can't influence the rest of the country? Jack, by the way, looks like he's thoroughly enjoying putting Matt and Danny through the ringer like this. I wouldn't have any idea what that feels like.
