It Was A Bad Show

"It was a bad show, can you hear me? I mean, classically bad."

That's going on the epitaph, you know? But then Cal follows up: "But it beats digging a hole for a living." Allison smiles and looks at her feet and just looks radiantly gorgeous. "Tell me you still didn't have the time of your life tonight," Cal asks. Allison looks dead-on into the camera -- straight at us -- and says, with some conviction, "Thank you." Sure, I could be cynical and say that that's Aaron Sorkin's way of saying that even bad TV is good TV, and maybe we should all be grateful for the men and women who work hard to beam seventeen episodes and counting worth of high-handed crap into our living rooms. But, just this once, I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and see that as something of a mea culpa. Something of an admission that this was one spectacular failure of a show, and having one of Aaron Sorkin's signature actresses looking us straight in the eye and thanking us for putting up with it. No need, Aaron. I get paid.
