And next, resident kid-hater Johanna manages to devise a spot-on fashion event theme, complete with a pink carpet and VIP area for the little girls. She also has an illusionist who kind of looks like a transman, but the girls seem to like him, so I guess it's fine. Devin plans to convert FAO Schwarz into a shoe closet. She even wrote a little poem, but its cuteness cannot overcome that this is a logistically impossible idea.
And finally, oh sweet baby Jesus, it's Kate and her bagpiper. Her royal court theme will involve red fabric and a simulated a royal procession while the piper plays Erin's favorite song: "SOS" by Rihanna. And if ever a song were made for bag piping! To his credit, the piper gives it a go, but I suspect he's more of a Britney fan. Anyone know where I can find a bagpipe "Womanizer" ring tone?
After all the presentations, Erin deems Johanna's fashion show idea her favorite, despite its lack of bag pipes, phallic balloon animals, and simulated booze for 10-year-olds.
Malina comes out to describe the Editorial Challenge: A mother-daughter trend page. The teams must select a focal photo that visualizes the trend, then select items that support that trend. Finally, they have to tell readers where to buy these items. And if someone effs this one up, then they must have never read a magazine in their entire life. This is elementary. Malina tells them they will split into teams of three and each team will pick a mother-daughter pair at the party.
As for the teams, Johanna puts Devin, Danielle, and William on Team 2. First on Team 2 is Eternity Cologne, then Ashlie -- who specifies she does not want to work with Kate -- so who is Johanna's final pick? Kate, of course! She teams up with Megan and Dyshaun, leaving her last week's team intact, which I consider pretty idiotic considering they lost. Johanna justifies that her teammates are the only people in the competition with an innate sense of fashion. She goes on to say that everyone else is roughly on the same level, then corrects herself to say Kate is a few rungs below. Ouch. They really hate her. Sucks for them, though, because Slowey seems to be buying what Kate is selling so far. And by "what Kate is selling," I mean a bridge in Brooklyn.
The next morning, the teams convene at FAO Schwarz. We quickly learn that Johanna sucks at being a Project Manager, as well as at explaining simple concepts. Judging from her weekly babbling in panel, though, it's not too surprising. Dyshaun says that this is the be-all, end-all for Johanna and that she likes to take control but lets pressure get to her.
