Night has fallen, and Ava and Johnny tuck Derrick into bed. He asks when he gets to go to heaven and see his parents. Ava says it'll be a long time from now. Derrick is discouraged that he has to wait. Ava makes up this whole story about how Derrick needs to live a long life so that he'll have lots of things to tell his parents when he sees them in heaven. Nikki listens to the explanation from her room. Ava adds that she loves Derrick and his siblings, and wants them to stay with her for a long time. Nikki starts crying and slams her window closed.

Ava and Johnny leave Derrick's room. Ava tells Johnny not to feel guilty about losing Derrick, because it could have happened to any of them. Seriously. It's not like anyone was watching the kid before. Johnny says he won't take a chance on that happening again, and walks away.

Bradin -- still drunk, like, three hours later -- stumbles toward the house. He's so drunk (or clumsy) that he trips and knocks over a metal chair, creating a ruckus. Jay hears him and comes outside to help him up. Bradin is all pissy with Jay, who continues to try to help. He advises Bradin not to go inside all drunk, but Bradin isn't having it. Bradin throws a punch, and Jay defends himself. Ava runs out and tells Jay to cut it out. She goes to help Bradin, and realizes that he's drunk. Johnny comes out and helps Bradin inside as Ava delivers the now-classic line: "Jay, why are you beating up my drunk nephew?" Hee. Jay says that Bradin attacked him. The guys dump Bradin on the couch as Jay says that Bradin was angry. Susannah suggests that something happened on Bradin's date. Ava says he was just hanging out with his surfing teacher. Everyone realizes at the same time that Jay assigned Erica to be Bradin's surfing teacher. Johnny can't figure out why Bradin would get angry with Jay, and then remembers that Jay is a poon hound. Jay says that he should have known, and Ava gets pissy with him for being a slut. Jay kind of looks like a more buff Jon Peter Lewis.

Johnny and Jay get Bradin into bed. Johnny checks on Derrick. Jay asks if Bradin is okay, and Johnny says that he doesn't know. Ava walks upstairs and knocks on Nikki's door. Nikki tells her to go away, because she doesn't want to talk. Ava sits down on the stairs.

Cut to later that night, where Susannah is talking on the phone to someone at a rental agency that is apparently open all night. Susannah is looking for a new place to live. Hey, so is Johnny! So is Ava. For some reason, all of the rental agents want to know why they're leaving their current situation, like a real rental agent would give a shit. Jay goes online to find a new roommate. By the way, Jay is twenty-seven, and his reason for leaving his current residence is, "I royally messed up." Yeah, that'll get you lots of potential roommates. Susannah's reason is to save an old friendship. Johnny says he's "not fit for service," which makes it sound like he has erectile dysfunction. Maybe that's why Ava dumped him! Ava says that her current place doesn't allow kids. I still want to know what kinds of rental places are open in the middle of the night.
