In the present, Dean asks Castiel to join him for a little confab outside. "What the hell happened?" Dean asks. Castiel cocks his head in confusion, so Dean clarifies: "Back there! Purgatory! I told you I would get you out." As much as Castiel understands Dean -- and it seems that he understands him more than anyone else around -- he will probably never understand the full depth and breadth of Dean's guilt complex. It's beyond the comprehension of angels -- even angels that used to be God. "It's like you just gave up," Dean says. He reminds Castiel of all the times he expressed his doubts. "Did you not trust me?" he asks. Castiel tries to interrupt, to explain what really happened, but Dean's on a roll. "I did everything I could to get you out! I did not leave you." Castiel gives Dean a look very much reminiscent of the first time they met face to face. It's the look of a curious alien discovering something surprising and, well, human. "So you think this is your fault?" Castiel asks. Now it's Dean's turn to look confused, because how could anything not be his fault?
Alas, Mama Tran chooses this inopportune moment to arrive, so this revelatory discussion will have to wait. She tells them about hiring a witch to make demon bombs and how it all went south pretty quickly. She has also somehow managed to get Crowley's minion into the trunk of her car. Even if he were just human, this would have been quite a feat, considering Mama Tran's petite stature and the brawny build of the minion. Dean whips out the demon-killing knife to torture the minion for info.
Torture Factory. Crowley has strapped Kevin into the chair where he recently tortured poor Samandriel. Kevin is still covered in congealing blood and chunks of the would-be prophet that Crowley exploded. "I thought privacy might make it easier to chat," Crowley says. Kevin still doesn't want to talk, so Crowley, in a fit of pique, grabs a knife and slices off Kevin's pinky finger. Kevin screams and screams. Once he catches his breath, he says, "I'll do it!"
Kevin, with his mangled hand now wrapped up, begins to read over the tablet. There's lots of little stuff about demon influence and demons transporting to Hell and whatnot, but Crowley tells him to skip ahead to the big stuff. Outside, the Good Guys are just arriving. Sam handcuffs a sputtering Mama Tran to the steering wheel of her car and Dean, after confirming they're at the right place, finishes off the demonic minion. Back inside, Crowley is amusing himself with a little plastic pinwheel toy while Kevin reads. Crowley perks up when Kevin discovers the bit about sealing the gates of Hell. Up to this point, Crowley wasn't sure the gates even existed. Meanwhile, the Winchesters and Castiel are sneaking around outside and killing minions. Dean and Castiel go off in one direction while Sam heads off another way.
