At the end, the Winchesters wind up at the cemetery where all the Men of Letters are buried. Sam and Dean have added their grandfather to the ranks and given him a wooden cross for a marker. "I get it now," Sam says. "What Cupid said, about Heaven busting ass to get Mom and Dad together. The Winchesters and the Campbells, the brains and the brawn." Except that back when Cupid said that, it was about the Apocalypse, not about bringing hunters and bookworms together. Dean's not optimistic: "All I see in our family tree is a whole lotta dead." He looks at Henry's photo and wishes his father could have known the truth. Sam wonders if it would have made a difference in how they were raised. They agree that John did the best that he could. Eh... Sam looks at the box. "What are the chances that place is still standing?" Dean wonders. "It's a chance we gotta take," Sam says. "I mean, we are LEGACIES, right?" They stand over their grandfather's grave for a while more, while the final notes of "As Time Goes By" wind down.
