The Hardy Boys Gotta Have a Friend in Jesus

Our Lady Of The Demographically Diverse. Lieutenant Hottie, on point, sidles out the front door of the chapel with a very large gun in his hands and arnaghanaghanaghanagh.

Victorian Of The Damned. Rufus and Jo load shotguns with rock salt until...the front windows explode! "VIOLENCE!" shrieks my aggravatingly dizzy houseguest. "WANTON ACTS OF MORTALLY COMBUSTIBLE VIOLENCE AND GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE!" Not so fast, there, my fine scaly friend. "Why!?" No gore. "Phooey!" Yet. "Wheeee!" Rufus and Jo charge the ruined windows, only to find little more than shattered glass and some tattered venetians. Rufus pokes his head through one of the wrecked window frames, and that's a very bad move on Rufus's part, indeed, for no sooner have his shoulders cleared the opening when...Dashing El Deano drags him the rest of the way onto the porch! D'OH! Jo, meanwhile, finds herself assaulted by her own mother, who sneaked into the house while the explosive diversion distracted her daughter. Jittery, hand-held desaturated tussling ensues until Dean pins Rufus to the porch floor and manages to convince him that one of Lucifer's Horsemen has been loosed upon the land. The instant Rufus connects the shooting star to the polluted river to the Mustang on Main Street to the inexplicable outburst of violence in River Pass, Dean's beetle-black eyes clear, and the two head inside to deprogram Jo...

...which, it turns out, they needn't have worried about, because Ellen's taken care of the deprogramming quite nicely on her own, thank you very much. "Ellen is fabulous!" Nice to know we still agree on the important issues, Raoul. "It is indeed!" In any event, Dean's reunion with the younger Harvelle would be most touching, I'm sure, were it not for one problem: The survivors from Our Lady Of The Demographically Diverse have arrived, and they will not stop shooting until every last monster in The Victorian Of The Damned is dead. Our Intrepid Hero plus Rufus and Ellen and Jo beat a strategic retreat to the second floor, where Dean and Sam quickly compare notes while Dean hacks his brother free from the bonds lashing the latter to the chair, and they realize that if they can't outright kill War, they should probably at least separate The Horseman from his ring.

And as all that has been going on, a noisy gun battle has erupted around the Victorian, with Rufus's allies on the second floor taking pot shots at the church refugees below, while Lieutenant Hottie lays down some covering fire so the others in his group might storm the mansion's first. Unfortunately for that milquetoast of a collar jockey, the youngest of Rufus's allies is an extremely good shot, and the priest takes a round in his upper chest that sends him snipering to the lawn amid a gout of arterial spray. "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE!" Lady Of Color and Ellen race to the priest's aid just as Rufus belatedly calls for a cease-fire on the second floor, but unfortunately for Ellen down on the lawn, Lieutenant Hottie's crept up from behind, hurled her onto her back, and is now pressing the muzzle of his rifle in her black-eyed face. However, Divine Providence -- and that's a total guess on my part -- intervenes on Ellen's behalf, and the rifle jams. Ellen rips the thing from Lieutenant Hottie's hands, but he still has a butcher's knife he swiped from the church kitchen, and he's now pushing the blade down towards her throat. "Eeeek!"
