Sam opens the motel room door, and pulls his gun. "Who are you?" The camera pulls back to reveal Castiel. His back is to the door and to Sam. He looks worried, but he doesn't move; he doesn't answer. Sam inches closer. Dean runs in yelling at Sam to wait. "It's Castiel -- the angel." He pushes Sam's gun down. The camera pans to the window. A man stands before it -- looking out. Dean says, "Him? I don't know." Castiel rises to face them. Sam's face is wonderful, here; it goes from shocked to thrilled. Castiel says, "Hello, Sam." Sam says, "Oh my God! I didn't mean to... sorry. It's an honor." He extends his hand to Castiel. "Really, I've heard a lot about you." His hand just hangs there. Oh man, aren't you just cringing on Sammy's behalf? Dean closes the room door, and Sam's hand seems to jump. Castiel looks down, and I realize he didn't know to shake Sam's hand. He wasn't being MEAN to SAM. Thank goodness, because I want to keep on loving him. Castiel grasps Sam's hand in a firm shake and he smiles. "And I, you." Sam looks encouraged, until Castiel continues: "Sam Winchester -- the boy with the demon blood." Nuaaauuugh. I nearly have to watch this from the hall. Sam's taken a back. Castiel says, "Glad to hear you've ceased your extra-curricular activities. Sam looks unhappy. The man at the window still doesn't turn, but he adds, "Let's keep it that way."
Dean may hate Sam's powers, and he may love to holler at Sam for using them, but nobody else is going to pick on his brother but him. To the stranger, he says, "Yeah, okay, Chuckles," and to Castiel, he adds, "Who's your friend?" Castiel doesn't answer. He has questions of his own. Not taking his eyes from Sam's face he says, "The raising of Sam Hain, have you stopped it?" Sam doesn't know what to say. Dean asks, "Why," so Castiel turns to him and says, "Dean, have you located the witch?" Dean says they have. Castiel says, "And is the witch dead?" Sam starts to answer, "No, but..." Dean interrupts, "We know who the witch is." Castiel says the witch must know who they are, because he found a hex bag hidden in their motel wall. If they hadn't found it, one or both of the boys would be dead. He asks if they know where the witch is, now? Dean refrains from saying, "It seems like he's standing right in front of our window," and instead just says that they're working on it. Dean wants to know why Castiel cares. Castiel explains that the raising of Sam Hain is one of the 66 seals. Dean says, "So this is about your buddy Lucifer." Without turning around, the stranger booms, "Lucifer is no friend of ours." Dean explains it's just an expression. Castiel continues that Lucifer can't rise. No, really? They must prevent the breaking of the seal at all costs. Castiel says, "We are not omniscient. She's cloaked, even to our methods." Sam goes all eager puppy. "We already know who she is. So if we work together..." The stranger cuts him off. "Enough of this." Dean demands to know who the stranger is and why they should care.
