Cut back to the sewer, where Sam struggles to get out of the ropes. Some coughing in the background catches his attention and we hear Dean's voice: "That better be you, Sam, and not that freak of nature." Sam laughs with relief as Dean pulls his own canvas shroud off and we see him beyond Sam's right shoulder. Sam tells his brother about NotDean's Blondie plan, and Dean responds, "Well, he's not stupid. He picked the handsome one." So sad for Jared Padalecki, who gets those stupid Vincent Price lines ("Two dark doubles attacking loved ones in the same way") when Ackles gets good zingers like that.

Cut back to Blondie's, where she reclines with the lying liar in front of a roaring fire. Girl, please. NotDean has apparently explained who the brothers are and what they were looking for. Blondie and NotDean are bathed in ridiculously warm light from the fire. Blondie is still incredulous, so NotDean asks her how to explain the evidence any other way. Blondie wants details about this monster: "What is it? Some kind of genetic freak?" This pulls NotDean up a bit as his face tightens and he emits a terse laugh: "Huh, maybe." Oooh, burn on the genetic freak, I guess. NotDean can't take all of Blondie's genetic harassment and puts his drink down: "Evolution is about mutation, right? So maybe this thing was born human but was different. Hideous and hated. Until he learned to become someone else." Why do monsters these days always feel the need to explain their right to be monsters? Just be a monster, dude! Embrace your eviltude!

In the sewer, Sam tells Dean that the shape-shifter didn't just look like Dean, he was Dean, "downloading [his] thoughts and memories." Dean asks, "Like a Vulcan mind-meld?" I thank the Lord for the pre-marital sex that has left me unable to understand Star Trek references. Sam posits that the shape-shifter needs to keep them alive in order to get all this interior information. Meanwhile, Dean has struggled out of his ropes and has gone to Sam to get him untied. Sam says they have to hurry to Blondie's, and we cut to them emerging from the sewers. Sam says they need to alert the police, but Dean stops him: "Whoa! You're gonna put an APB out on me?" Sam just shrugs, and I guess that's how the SWAT team gets involved.
