And as The Yardbirds' "Turn Into Earth" kicks in on the soundtrack, Castiel steps into the asylum's forecourt to commence with the smiting, and even though even I have to admit it's pretty kick-ass to witness said eye-searing smiting again after all this time, I'm afraid My Amnesiac Baboo's mass incineration of the demonically-enhanced throng isn't the main thrust of this sequence. No, they've chosen to intersperse certain key flashbacks throughout to illustrate the return of Castiel's memory, you see, which means I have to go dig up a whole frigging buttload of links, which means this show now sucks even when it is kind of awesome. Sigh. Anyway: In order, those key flashbacks include Castiel's very first appearance at the start of Season Four, the crucial and deliriously devious assist he offered Dean at the end of that same season, the bit where he broke what little was left of The Ginormomope's brain, the bit where he screwed Crowley out of their previously-arranged deal regarding Purgatory's souls, and what basically amounted to his last scene before tonight. And when it's all over, Meg ambles on up to smile, "That was beautiful, Clarence!" For his part, Dean is far more apprehensive, and probably for good reason, as his timid, "Cas?" is met with a stony-faced and icy-cold, "I remember you -- I remember everything!" from My Fully Restored Baboo, and I don't know about you, but I entered this evening's next woefully CHOMP!-less commercial break fully expecting Castiel to smite the hell out of Dumbass El Deano, as well.
