Stop The Hardy Boys -- I Want To Get Off

"After all," Castiel's Voiceover muses as the scene shifts back to his fiery "ass-butt" confrontation with Michael during last season's finale, "they taught me to stand up, what to stand for, and what generally happens to you when you do." Flashback Lucifer-In-Sam snaps his fingers, and My Busted Flashback Baboo explodes, head first, into a chunky spray of blood and body parts that paints the camera lens red. "ZZZZZZ -- gooooooooooooore! -- ZZZZZZZ!" This time around, though, the moment immediately grinds down into extreme slow-motion, and the camera makes its way through the haze of vaporized angel guts to focus in on a single bead of blood temporarily suspended in mid-air. "I was done," Castiel's Voiceover needlessly explains, "and then the most extraordinary thing happened." At that, the explosion suddenly reverses itself, and My Thoroughly Restored Flashback Baboo is standing once more in the middle of Stull Cemetery. And as Flashback Castiel heals Flashback Frankendean and resurrects Dead Flashback Bobby, Current Castiel's Voiceover tells us -- needlessly, again -- "I was put back, and we had won -- we stopped Armageddon." WE KNOW. WE SAW IT LAST YEAR. WHY ARE YOU WASTING OUR TIME LIKE THIS? "ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!" That, too.

In any event, Current Castiel's Voiceover reminds us that their victory came at a horrible cost, and by the time he's finished that thought, we've leapt forward a bit in time to watch -- again, some more -- as Flashback Zombie Sam stands beneath that ominously flickering streetlamp outside Flashback Bendy Lisa's, and we finally get a new piece of information: "Once again, I went to harrow Hell," Current Castiel's Voiceover reveals, "to free Sam from Lucifer's cage." "It was nearly impossible," the Voiceover continues as the camera spins around Flashback Zombie Sam's body, "but I was so full of confidence -- of mission." By now, the spinny camera's landed on My Flashback Baboo who, apparently, was at Flashback Zombie Sam's side the entire time during that scene, albeit cloaked somehow from Flashback Zombie Sam's vision. "I see now that was arrogance," Current Castiel's Voiceover confesses, "because of course I hadn't truly raised Sam -- not all of him."
