MONDO EXTRAS
Mostly-Seen-Before Footage
Yet another fish writhes on the ground, and Deena steps on it on her way toward Christy, whose hat is raffishly perched atop her head. Deena tells Christy that Shawna and Jeanne have been "commiserating," prompting Christy to ask, "What, like discussing? Arguing?" Deena slow talks, "No...feeling really bad for each other." She continues, "As in 'I'm sorry that Joanna's gone/ I'm sorry that you're still here.'" Jaunty-hatted Christy earnestly asks, "'Commiserating'?" and Deena repeats, "Com. Mis. Er. Ate. Com. Mis. Er. Ate." Oh. That's embarrassing.
We next join the commiserating conversation, where Jeanne announces that she's not just going to roll over and die because Joanna's gone. She holds nothing back as she tells Shawna that even though she thinks Shawna's "the greatest kid in the world," Shawna should have been voted off. Shawna -- whose lips are nasty white in this segment -- claims that she knows exactly what Jeanne means. Jeanne adds that the tribe needs energy, which Shawna doesn't have, and forecasts, "Or maybe the tribe has a plan that they didn't share with me."
Peachy next tells us that, frustrated by Joanna's departure, Jeanne "cooked up a plot for revenge." A gong sounds and the camera zooms inside the container of fuzz-covered manioc. Jeanne tells us that she's "right there" in the game mentally, but in honor of Joanna's departure, she's "gonna kick their butts" because Joanna would like that. Jeanne explains that after she cooked the fish, the rest of the tribe still wanted manioc. So, she opened the lid, finding all manner of crud: "Pink fuzz, green fuzz, white maggots, ants, skinny little worms." As we see her fussing over the fuzz, she announces, "Good eatin', folks!" She continues telling us that she knew how to cook the manioc so that the others would like it and explains, "I went in, got a little of the mushy stuff, dipped it into the crunchy stuff, got a little green mold, a little pink mold, and kind of rolled it all together into little hot dog, bite-sized morsels." And I'm not sure if the food itself or Jeanne's overzealousness in describing it is more disturbing. As we see close-ups of Jeanne's fuzzy balls cooking in the ashes, she announces to the others, "Meatballs are cooking, girls! And they are gonna be...great!" She then makes a cringing face and sticks her tongue at the camera when the others can't see. Christy eagerly eyes the meal, and Jeanne responds that it's going to taste like "beef stew and your mom's biscuits." In an interview, she brags that the tribe devoured her fuzzy balls, thinking they were like "sesame treats." As we see the women waving the fuzzy balls around before popping them in their mouths, Jeanne laughs in an interview, "I wouldn't eat one if you paid me!" She adds, "Hopefully, they'll all keel over....they might!" As we break, HeiDDi gives the thumbs-up while Jenna announces that she could eat Jeanne's fuzzy balls all day.
