Double Trouble

Jim admits in an interview that this is a last-ditch effort, but he only needs two of those seven people on Upolu to vote for Cochran and it's game on. Ozzy interviews that if Jim really gives him the necklace, it will be totally surreal. And he vows to never give up, and then we get a shot of Ozzy looking at a rainbow. And then a magical unicorn (or maybe Mark Burnett) flies over and drops an Immunity Idol on the beach at Ozzy's feet. Not really, for that last part, but you know he wanted to.

Tribal Council. Probst opens by asking Cochran how the others on Savaii received his vote. Cochran says the reception was understandably chilly, and Jim was probably the loudest, and wouldn't give Cochran a chance to explain. What's to explain? "I want to last longer in this game, because whoever lasts the longest wins." End of story. Jim admits that he said some immature things but he took the vote personally. Cochran goes on to dig his grave further, and says that he wanted to take control and take the opportunity to play with some awesome people instead of a group of jerks. He's a little bit nicer about it, but not much. And then he backtracks and says that he knows that sounded mean towards his old tribe and Ozzy and Whitney are like, "Yeah, dude. It did." So Cochran falls back on his "control of my own fate" and "captain of my own ship" and "driver of my own car" and "other thing in control of this other thing" defense.

Jim's ready to launch his last-ditch effort. He points out that he saved Cochran from being voted out at the first and second vote, he worked with Keith and Whitney to save Cochran in the third vote, and Ozzy kept Cochran from going to Redemption Island. Okay, I need to break down this game film here, because that's not entirely what I remember. In the first vote, I don't know that Jim "saved" Cochran so much as he pointed out that Semhar was useless, and there wasn't a whole lot of evidence that anyone besides Ozzy wanted to get rid of Cochran anyway. In the second vote, no one ever talked about voting for anyone except Papa Bear, although they brought Cochran's name up as a decoy. In the third vote, Jim, Keith and Whitney teamed up to vote out Elyse because they thought she was too close to Ozzy, not in order to save Cochran. I guess in the fourth vote, Ozzy "saved" Cochran by volunteering to go to Redemption Island. If Ozzy hadn't volunteered, Cochran absolutely would have been voted out. But that's a nice piece of rewritten history to support your point, Jim.
