Requiem For A Queen Bee

Chris and Julie are fighting for third. But not right at the moment, because right at the moment, they're both really tired, and they're resting out in the water before they continue. "Do you want this bad?" Chris asks Julie. "What?" she says. "Do you want this bad?" he repeats. "I really do," she says pleadingly. "Me too," he says, and they both dive. Heh heh. The show must love people who do movie dialogue like that without even being asked. They're neck and neck coming back up to the water and getting onto the course. Julie is in the lead at first, but she falls into the water, and Chris -- who came within a hair of going home the first week because of balance problems -- stays up. Well, he stays up longer than Julie before he also falls in. They're ultimately dead even again as they dive into the water to head for the beach, but as they emerge from the water, Julie seems to have no gas in the tank for the run up the beach, and Chris grabs third place. Which quite possibly makes a huge difference in the ultimate course of the episode, of course. Ask yourself what would have happened if Eliza had been sent off to the lap of luxury with Ami and Julie. Might things have changed? Oh, I think they might. Jeff tells a grinning Eliza again that she is richer by one car, and that they can leave now, in that very car, for their reward. They all cheer, although weakly. They're tired. Scout, Twila, and Julie go back to camp, and the reward winners take off in the car.

Eliza's car flies along the road toward the resort, and she interviews that she doesn't think the fact that she won a car has quite "sunk in yet." She talks about how great the ride to the resort was with the sun roof open, and we watch as they pull in at their destination. It's a bungalow on a beach, and really, it is pretty idyllic. Inside, they have chairs and a bed, and of course, there are bathrobes for them to wear when they get out of the shower. Ami says that she was able to wash her hair and scrub herself enough that she feels clean. "I smell good," she says in an interview, sniffing her own armpit. You know what they probably say in the editing room -- you can always cut to Ami for a touch of class. When Chris goes into the shower, though, there's no hot water left. "Bitches," he says in an interview through clenched teeth. Heh.
