Back at the Millers', Ronald Reagan is on the TV and Laurie is on Doug. There's necking and talking of politics, and it's like The West Wing would have been like had any of the wonky man-boys in the Bartlett Administration actually known what to do with a live woman, and the whole thing gets interrupted when Bruce and Susan comes through the door. Doug hisses, "I thought you said they weren't going to be home until late" right as Susan tells the Davises "The kids are going to be out for the night, so we have the place to ourselves." Oh, comedy! And when Laurie makes them hide behind the bar in the den, it only gets funnier when Bruce heads into den to make drinks. Laurie panics, but Sylvia ends up inadvertently saving her, as she'd rather have some white wine.
Laurie's bugging out behind the bar, and her whispered, "What the hell is going on?" only becomes more achingly relevant once Sylvia turns on the radio, finds a station playing "Crimson and Clover," then begins reminiscing about some "out of control shrink party" in the Haight wherein she tripped balls to this song. I'm betting that was before the Haight turned into a tourist trap with a freakin' Gap on the corner. Then there is some awkward flirtation between Bruce and Sylvia, but Sylvia looks like she's not going to hold Bruce's lack of suavity against him.
