And at the school, the next team to arrive are... Gary & Will. They run around lost for a while, so it's not quite over yet. But the blondes' driver is just now turning around after going the wrong way again, so it's probably over and they know it. "You just cost us the race, bro," Brittany bitches at him. Finally the teachers run unto the amphitheater, whooping and hollering and making a spectacle of themselves before making it to the mat and becoming team number eight. At least in their post-leg interview, they chalk it up to luck. "Never give up," is the lesson Gary has learned. Because you never know, somebody else in the world could be sucking more wind than you are.
Finally the blondes make it to the mat and the teachers step aside for them. Phil tells them they're the last team to arrive and they're Philiminated. "What happened?" he asks gravely. Brittany says their driver was "just a hot mess," and Caitlin explains about the fateful fork in the road. "That's what cost us the race," Brittany says. Not that it had anything to do with the previous leg that caused them to start this one so late. In their post leg interview, Brittany adds, "We both feel stupid. I mean, I think we're a stronger team than Gary and Will and I think that's one of the hardest things, is leaving knowing that we're better than the teams that are left." Phil tells them that we'll miss having them on the race (speak for yourself, Phil), and Brittany's interview concludes, "Whatever. Nothing else we can do about it, I guess. Cause we're going home." And then she does one last snort-laugh before we see the greeter telling them. "Salmaat tinggal (goodbye.)" Nice to see that the Auburn University athletic programs have taught her to be such a great sport.
