Jen's Blackberry goes off, and it turns out that they're getting text messages from their loved ones. Nate's is from his mom and dad, which reads, "Just wanted to say that you better win or don't come home." Doesn't sound like they think the question of his future with Jen is in any doubt. They add a "Just kidding," which...sure, okay. Chris's is from "Steph," and the ensuing tacked-on clarification of "my sister" makes the Mr. Burns "Smithers, you're quite good at turning me on" start-up message sound positively seamless by comparison. Kynt tells Vyxsin that there's a message from her mom and dad. Chris reads the message, which talks about how it will be an incredible father-daughter trip and instructs them to use it as a time to "grow deeper together." Ron actually seems to get a little sniffly at this. Either that, or the ragweed that just went up his nose has positively exquisite timing. Christina asks if he's okay, and he says yes, but in an interview from another time and place, he says that the message reminded him of how important his family and daughters are, and made him feel immense joy. I'll give him that without question, sure. It's his other immense tendencies that are the problem. In the car, Ron tells Christina that he has room for improvement, and I'm thinking he's talking about their relationship and not the race, so that's nice as well.
