Out on the water, the captioner who writes the "Currently In Xth Place" things takes over the job of creating suspense as other teams start passing the Linzes. The Bransens pass them, then the Gadzookskis, who perform ritual ass-smackings on themselves to inspire their driver. It's either that, or they're just troubled by their very impractical underwear, which we will later learn is a strong possibility. Meanwhile, the Gaghans continue to have the worst luck in history, as their boat is passed by the Weavers. And then the Weavers pass the Linzes, leaving the formerly second-place Linzes in second-to-last place for no reason other than the performance of their driver. To add insult to the Gaghans' injury, they now realize their boat is actually going the wrong direction. To their shock, the driver announces that he's going to pick up a bunch of other people first, before he drops them off. They immediately flip out, which...I mean, come on. Spoon-fed boats, and you give them one that doesn't know that he's supposed to take them and drop them off? Did nobody give instructions to the drivers? If you're going to force teams into specific boats with specific guys, you don't leave them to the whim of the guy deciding to do something else. If you do, then the guy might just as well sit there and refuse to go at all unless they bribe him. This is part of why I hate third-party involvement in things like this. Either the driver works for the show, in which case all the drivers need to be given the same directions and told exactly what they're to do, or the driver works for the team, in which case the team can direct him. Getting a slow boat is bad enough, but the team has no control and the drivers haven't been told what they need to do? Ridiculous.

Commercials. It occurs to me that it would be hard to come up with a movie I would want to see less than The Legend Of Zorro. Possibly The Legend Of Zorro II: More Legendary Than Ever.

When we return to the Gaghans, they are pleading with their driver (as in "please, please") not to pick up other people, but to take them directly to the island. Ultimately, he agrees, although it appears he didn't have to. They thank him. "Oh, my goodness," Tammy comments. Well, seriously.

The Paolos, "Currently in 1st Place" (yuck) thanks entirely to their driver, get out at the dock and go off to look for Ricardo Diaz. And then Bransens, Godlewskis, and Weavers. The first guy the Paolos encounter, lying in a hammock just as the clue says Ricardo will be, is not Ricardo. He tells them to keep looking. It may be that Ricardo is only the second laziest scientist in Central America, as this guy didn't even go as far down the path as Ricardo did.
