I Got A Cab At Zanzibar

9:47 PM. The BQs. They have $124 for the leg. Dustin voices over that they have yet to come in first, so they're thinking maybe this is the leg for it. In a moment I found dryly adorable, Kandice says, "We have to kind of compete with Too Hot To Handle," and Dustin adds, equally amused, "It's a little hard to keep up with Too Hot To Handle." See, I've seen people let Mirna get under their skin and argue with her, but that's really the first time I've seen a team that's clearly capable of treating Mirna as what she is: totally ridiculous. I just love it that this doesn't even come across like animosity. It just comes across like, "How about that Mirna? ... Yeah."

10:13 PM. Teri and Ian. In the car, he tells us that gruffness becomes him and so forth, and that he's unapologetic. "I believe in character and honor," he says, and I tune out, because I don't want him to go there and lose me when we're doing so well. Because I believe in character and honor also, but I sense that he and I do not necessarily define those words the same way. Mine has less grunting.

As Danny and Oswald prepare to leave, Oswald is holding up the clue, and Danny teases him for being "such a hand model." Oswald gives it a good The Price Is Right flourish, probably enough to get him personally harassed by Bob Barker, and then at 10:18 PM, they open the clue to leave. Oswald explains in an interview that when people become overly competitive, they start to lose their own personalities, so he thinks it's very important to keep your head and stay yourself and enjoy what you're doing. Danny nods the entire time. They never lose their personalities, because their personalities have wings and follow them. "We have the same driver: Andre," Oswald comments as they return to their car. And then, as they get in, Oswald says, "Andrae? Where's Andrae?" It's the world's most delightful shout-out from one show to another, I'll say that for it. Tim Gunn would make a great racer. He would watch his partner rappel too slowly, and he'd make that face and say, "This concerns me."
