Fight to the Finish

Then Lee's talking to Tenacity, and telling them the same thing: Give it a funk and a vibe that's very New York. He leaves them all to their work. Holly's picturing the celebrity room red, and wants it to be crazy so she lets Cyndi go crazy. Cyndi wants to make it cuckoo, since everything's been so conservative. Bret plays mediator and Holly interviews that she's impressed at how Bret works with her and Cyndi, actually, though she wasn't sure. They all go off to get furniture, tasks, and the paint's chosen.

RockSolid. All three are at the furniture store. Sharon wants modern and clean. Everything Maria suggests, Sharon hates and shoots down. Maria thinks they'll get criticized for not pushing it. Sharon's lived in twenty properties, so she knows how to decorate and she says Maria's just a kid. Then Sharon and Curtis connect because they seem to have the same taste in furniture. Sharon whispers to Curtis that Maria's got "truck-stop taste." Curtis interviews that he's never heard of truck-stop style, "But I understand what she means when she says it." I think we're all right there with him. Sharon sends Maria off to the paint store, and Maria interviews that Curtis is a Master Manipulator stealing her spot, which is what's bothered her about him from the beginning, she thinks.

Tenacity. Bret's in charge of the painters and the crew. He gets them going and then goes out on the balcony to take skyline pictures, so that he can put shots of New York all over the place, since Lee asked for it to have a New York vibe. He says he's in a New York state of mind, "with a cowboy hat, of course." Meanwhile, Holly and Cyndi are shopping at the prop store for Balinese accessories. They find a couple things, but then Cyndi finds disco balls and everything else she wanted. Holly says shopping with Cyndi is like shopping with her kids. Holly's sick of being conservative, and wants to let her freak flag fly. Holly keeps shooting her down.

In the RockSolid van, Sharon tells Curtis that Holly will go with an Asian theme, because that's what she's into, all Buddhas and stuff. Sharon calls the prop shop, and they tell her that Holly's doing Balinese. Sharon doesn't feel that theme is right for a corporate apartment. She thinks you need to be neutral.
