Out With A Whimper

Speaking of, Clint and Poppy are waiting for Liza, who shows up all friendly and cheerful in a black SUV. Clint informs us he's responsible for Liza Minnelli, which is a heck of a lot to be responsible for. It's a stage, making sure she looks good, sounds good, etc. They let Liza head to the stage to practice her songs and go get cleaned up themselves. Then he heads up to greet Kathy Griffin and mispronounces endive (though I'm not sure if he really does). Outside, Steuart scoffs at plastic containers. When Clint comes out, he finds a table of folks from Texas and they get all accenty with each other, leading to a hilarious Steuart interview where he impersonates Clint: "You have Clint from Texas -- 'Hey I'm from Texas. Hope y'all like me. I like y'all. We're all friends. Thanks y'all.'" He worries that could come back and hurt Clint. Perfectly edited cut to Clint inviting people to eat by saying "We're gonna go ahead and start feeding y'all, so whenever y'all want to come through."

Team Brandy's mingling, and Brandy thinks the space looks beautiful. She acknowledges that Clint's a tough competitor and that winning against him might be difficult. Clint keeps "y'all"-ing everyone about getting their food, and then Steuart explains how complicated it is to get 500 people through the food line. Clint adds that it could be a disaster if they don't get them all through in a hour, because that's when the show starts. Trump and the Trumplets are about to get some food when Clint jumps on stage and starts asking for everyone's attention. Trump looks at him and sighs, so we cut to a commercial. Because it's so suspenseful.

When we're back, he's still asking for people's attention, because the show is about to begin. He introduces himself and we get a closeup of an annoyed-looking Trump. Clint talks about Liza Minnelli and Kathy Griffin, then introduces Trump, who comes out, congratulates Clint and Brandy, then introduces Kathy, whom he loves. Kathy does a comedy number and then presents the awards. When she reveals the prizes, she says the golf clubs are worth $300, or $400 or whatever. Stephanie's stressing out and worried for Brandy, since these people spend more money than that on golf balls. When Kathy finishes up, she introduces Liza, who is somehow, mid-song and while seated, channeling Lucille 2. Clint thinks Liza's amazing and this gala dinner's amazing, and losing isn't even in his vocabulary. Steuart gives him a thumbs-up from across the room, and it makes me sad Steuart didn't make the final, because this catering task was all him.
