There's No "I" in "Meltdown"

Jillian follows Alex in the house to have it out with her. Alex says that she was really trying, which is a claim that Jillian rejects, saying that Alex is young, strong and injury-free. She should be able to run. She encourages Alex to have more specific goals, and finally acknowledge that she's selling herself short. If she doesn't, they're not going to be able to solve the problem. Alex says that getting an earful of negatives is very discouraging because her best has never been good enough. It's an impossible scenario, so why even try. Now Dr. Phillian is satisfied, having a concrete neuroses to work with. It turns out that Alex always was one step behind, and had to deal with a size 6 mom and size 2 sister. She's also sick of hearing how she has a pretty face, just so you know. Jillian encourages Alex to stop rebelling (in the form of mediocrity) because she's only hurting herself. Alex thinks that Jillian finally understands where she's coming from, and is feeling positive about their relationship going forward.

Meanwhile, Bob finds Gina in her room and is concerned that the pressure of being the biggest loser in the house is getting to her. Gina recounts the whole "I hate lawyers" incident in passionate detail (and with the mistaken notion that Dolvett also said "I hate lawyers," albeit in a joking manner), and Bob tells her that she needs to protect herself from people throwing her off her game. Bob theorizes that Gina is self-sabotaging because she doesn't feel worthy of making it to the finish line. He tells her to focus. Gina admits that she didn't think she'd last past the first or second week, and also admits that Bob's right about her being afraid to win. And then she very dramatically interviews that she has her passport and wallet with money and drivers' license, and is ready to go. If she survives another week, she has to decide if she gets another stamp on the passport or conquers her fear of sticking it out until the end. I love how she brings a prop to her interviews for extra drama. Or maybe it's evidence? Next she'll have Joe's notebook, with "I hate lawyers, especially Gina" scrawled across the back.
