Later that night, Mike sits down to talk with Ron about his anger issues. He's terrified and emotional. He says he has never understood why Ron was so big and never changed for him and his brother. Mike has been frustrated about being big for so long, and he's never expressed it. Ron interviews that he does deserve to have Mike's anger directed at him, and tells Mike that it's okay to be mad, and he should be mad. Ron says that Mike's mom decided to get skinny about seven years ago, because she was finally fed up. He interviews that growing up his mom and dad tried everything to get him to lose weight. It didn't work. His wife was the same way. She was overweight but has gotten very thin. It's true -- she looks great. Ron tells Mike that weight is a battle. He says that he couldn't drill healthy habits into Mike while he was still 400 pounds. But now both he and Mike are on track, which is why they're going to be able to help Max when they get home. Mike seems relieved to have had this conversation with Ron, and says that he and his dad are going to be better for it.
With that, it's time for the weigh-in! It's a big one, obviously. Sami asks Tara if she's going to take the money or the pound. And oh, shit! Tara is taking the money! Everyone is shocked, and Jillian looks like she wants to punch her. However, she interviews that Tara is betting on herself, and she likes to see that. So she's all for it. Quelle surprise! Tara steps on the scale, and Sami gives her another opportunity to trade in the money for the pound. Tara looks at Jillian, who hides her face. But Sami's needling doesn't work. Tara is confident that she did well. She starts at 182 and goes to 177, for a loss of 5! She gives a little happy jump, and Jillian breathes a sigh of relief. In week 16, 5 pounds is a lot for someone of Tara's size, and she feels great. Her total percentage lost is 2.75%.
