As the teams take a little time to sit and chat and chew on slices of Extra Fruit Sensations, Sami comes in to greet them. She takes them to a room where there are paddles with team colors on them - one paddle per team. Sami congratulates them on their first week's accomplishments, but warns them that it's Dreaded Week Two, where the average weight loss is 2%. Today, one team is going to put their money where their mouth is, says Sami, and will have the chance to win $10,000. But of course, there is a catch. Each team gets to bid on the percentage of weight they think they'll lose for the week. The highest bidder will be playing for $10,000. They'll win the money if they do reach the percentage they bid on. However, if they don't meet their goals, they'll automatically go below the yellow line and be in danger of elimination. This is a deal for suckers.
Sami asks if anyone is interested in bidding 1%. Phil from the Red Team, who is apparently an auction-goer, puts up his paddle to get things started. His hope is that Jillian's teams will lose their cool and bid more than they can possibly lose. L.T. raises his paddle for 1.1%. He is really sick of driving a cab. Shellay bids at 1.2%. Risk-ay. Heba says that she's not going to take any chances of being below the yellow line, so she and Ed aren't bidding. The bidding goes on, with the Yellow Team vying with L.T. and Tom, Shellay and Amy, and Phil and Amy. Eventually, Coleen and Jerry bid for 2.1%. Michelle thinks they're crazy, particularly given Jerry's physical limitations. L.T. and Tom raise it up to 2.2%. Shellay, despite Amy's misgivings, goes up to 2.3%. Sami eggs them all on. Eventually Coleen can't keep her hand down, and she and Jerry bid 2.4%. Going once, going twice, and sold down the river. Jerry and Coleen need to lose more than 13 pounds to win the $10,000. Jerry is ready to get dirty and do it. Coleen is certain that they can reach this goal. Well, I was certain that America would never elect George W. Bush a second time, and we all saw what happened there. And that wasn't even during Dreaded Week Two!
