The challenge begins! The bubble gum pit is as nasty as you think, and apparently a bit like walking through wet cement, and each gumball weighs 10 pounds. Poor Alex hopes above all hopes that her pants don't fall down in the pit. The big guys are having a really hard time, and Jeff and Jackson both get stuck in it for a while. As a person who freaks out when I have the slightest bit of sticky hands, this challenge would send me straight to the asylum. Jackson pulls upon every bit of will he has NOT to throw up in the bubble gum pit, primarily because he doesn't want his teammates to have to wade through his nasty puke. That would be grounds for some serious elimination as soon as you fall below the yellow line. "This person has a strong support system at home, and also I really don't enjoy swimming through the puke of others. And so I voted for Jackson." I should mention that the bubble gum pits are in the middle of hayfields, so after the contestants hoist themselves back on solid ground, they just get shit stuck all over them. Poor Mike twists his knee in the pit, and risks further injury by persevering in the bubble gum hell fields. His injury creates enough of a delay for the Red Team to take the victory. Jackson is really excited about the free groceries, and future opportunities to vomit them up.
Last chance workout! The Red Team works out in Dolvett's Dungeon, which happily has no bubble gum pool. It is a relief to me personally that Dolvett isn't into that particular kind of kink. The White Team works out in their outdoor gym, which was the scene of Pam's recent epic meltdown. Today Pam has modest goals, mostly comprised of marginally keeping her shit together. Jillian actually seems to like her team members now, which is a relief for everyone. Cate is back in fighting form, and is quite happy about it. Oh no, and then we're back with the White Team, and Pam is totally not meeting today's goal! She loses her shit and falls apart for no reason, and Jillian starts yelling at her. Pam thinks that other contestants are pushing through their walls, and she can't. Jillian screams that Pam just loves being a failure, because she won't let it go. She then screams at her to run, and step into the new Pam. Jillian tells us that she pushes because she knows Pam can do it, but it's an exhausting fight every time. Pam does whatever thing on the treadmill she's supposed to do, and Jillian angrily screams that she's done a good job and she's impressed. Pam then sarcastically yells back, "Let me push you till I break you, Pam!" which sets Jillian off even more. She tells Pam to go inside, and Pam refuses, and then Jillian stomps around like Godzilla, saying that she wants to make Pam better and stronger, and wants her to wake up. And jeez, everybody just calm down. God.
