Ring the Alarm

The contestants get back to the house and basically collapse. Koli and Sam wonder if they should hit the button. Sam advocates for doing it the next morning, after a good nighttime workout. Koli is a bit more eager to jump the gun, particularly because he doesn't want Melissa to get valuable immunity. He suspects she might hit the button as soon as possible. Melissa thinks she's close, but not quite ready. She goes to bed, as Koli and Sam have a midnight workout. Melissa has a plan to workout at 3 AM, and 6 AM. That's madness. Sam and Koli leave the gym at 1:15 AM, determined to beat Melissa to the buzzer. That crazy bitch actually does get up at 3 AM and work out. What's wrong with these people? Get some damn sleep!

The next morning, the buzzer goes off! It's Sam. Melissa is ticked that he got to the button before her. She says that if, by the grace of God, Sam doesn't lose his needed six pounds, she's going straight to the button. As Sam removes his shirt, everyone comments on how tiny he is. It's true that he's already pretty ripped. As the scale slowly creeps up, we finally learn that Sam has not lost six pounds. He's lost TEN POUNDS! That's 3.8 percent. He gets very testosterone-y about it, which is appropriate in this situation, I think. Well played, Sam! Everyone is super impressed. Melissa is exceptionally pissed, even though she's publicly good natured about it.

And then! It's the return of our good friend Jennie-O Turkey. Have it for every meal of the day! Jillian and Bob join the contestants in the kitchen, and learn that Victoria failed the buzzer challenge, but Sam killed it. They also learn that Sunshine won the challenge, and Melissa has the one-pound disadvantage. They learn the circumstances around Melissa's last place finish. Bob and Jillian are in agreement that they'd be much more worried about O'Neal or Michael having a one-pound disadvantage. Bob tells us that the game turned on game-playing Melissa, as is her due. Everyone heads off to the gym except for Victoria, who is roped into a product placement for Fiber One cereal. I think this is one of those "other realities" of the ranch that she was talking about earlier.

After a commercial break, the contestants hit the gym. It's time for the last chance workout. Bob wants to zero in on Koli, and has him step up on a platform while holding a weight bar. Sweat drips from his eyebrows. As Bob adds weight to the bar, Koli wonders if he can do it. He can, because he's awesome. As he dreams of finale confetti, he succeeds in his weight lifting. Jillian, meanwhile, decides to beat the crap out of Daris. He's quiet and doesn't get the attention that he deserves, which is why Jillian thinks he needs an ass-beating, with a side of love. We flash back to Daris at the beginning of the competition, and are reminded that he's perhaps the biggest hottie transformation of the season. He also can box like a motherfucker. Bob tells us that part of the fun of doing a last chance workout with Jillian is that they get to tag team people, which is evil but fun. Bob beats Melissa, and then Jillian takes a turn. Melissa doesn't even care, because she wants to survive the damn weigh-in. Ashley tells us that last chance workout is like going into a healthy hell -- it's good for you, but my god it hurts. And Jillian particularly loves the "hurts" part.
