The contestants head to a bridge over lovely waters. Sami greets them from the bridge, saying that some of the most extreme sports originated in New Zealand. In fact, bungee jumping originated 22 years ago on the very bridge upon which she is standing. She hopes that they're ready for one more adventure. And with that, Sami looks like she's going to jump off of the bridge. But she doesn't, and this is not the challenge for the contestants. Rather, they're going to have to riverboard half a mile down the river, which will doubtlessly be freezing. They'll face some rapids, and some obstacles, and will cross the finish line under another bridge. The winner will get a spectacular adventure -- a helicopter ride to Milford Sound -- as well as individual immunity at the weigh-in. And then Sami, with a little encouragement, bungee jumps! She looks exceptionally fly while she's doing it, FYI.
The challenge begins! Apparently riverboarding is kind of like paddling with a very nice kickboard. It looks cold and hard. Jay tells us that finding the right current is crucial. Olivia kicks hard, and seems to find a decent current early on. Her strategy is not to get dashed upon the rocks, and not to fall off her board and drown. Austin tells us that he can't swim. Well that must be scary. He's in last place. Olivia and Hannah are determined not to let Rulon win. They're out ahead, but he's within sight of them and hopes to put pressure on them and pull it out at the end. Olivia spies a stretch of rapids ahead of her, and speculates that this will make it or break it for several people.
Meanwhile, Irene is getting cramps everywhere but is still determined not to let Rulon win. Olivia slacks on her lead, and Kaylee catches up. Olivia does not care for this one bit. She starts kicking all hard-like, and then Rulon seems to be flying up on the side. But then Olivia wins! She has immunity, and is thrilled. Sami is totally cute and seems to be thrilled for her as well. Olivia gets to bring someone on the trip to Milford Sound with her, and of course picks Hannah. Hannah is stressing a little about missing a workout, but is reassured when Hannah reminds her that they'll never have a chance to do this again. It's a sunny day, which is in itself miraculous, and the girls see all the beauty that New Zealand has to offer. They land in a crazily scenic spot, and talk a lot about how much they love each other. Olivia tells us that they've earned their lives back, and deserve to be witness to such beauty. They cry, and Hannah ascribes the whole situation to divine intervention. It's easy to feel like that when you're looking out on such a wondrous landscape, I guess.
