We enter with Francelina leaving the elimination room, and Ali Sweeney emphasizing how SCARY it is that she's leaving this ranch, a fact that makes her very SCARED. What's even SCARIER is that Francelina isn't the only person who will be leaving the ranch. Cue abject panic on the face of all the Losers. Someone will be leaving the ranch for a whole week, and exactly who that person is will be determined by a "friendly" challenge. Gina reminds us that leaving the ranch would be difficult for her because she has issues. Yes, we are aware. As the contestants gather in some sort of a competition field, Ali tells them that this week is all about facing fears, and everyone is afraid of leaving the ranch. Except for all of those folks who were voluntarily like, "Peace out, I'mma go lose 150 pounds without anybody screaming in my face." But real life is scary, or so we are led to believe.
So, here's how the challenge work. Each contestant has a life-sized poster with his or her photo on it, as well as a pile of 25-pound cinder blocks. The Losers will have to take said cinder blocks and try to cover the photos of their friends with piles of cinder blocks, because when a poster is covered the contestant it represents will be safe. The contestants are not allowed to put the blocks on their own posters, obviously. The last person remaining with an uncovered picture will be spending the week off campus. So, if people hate you (basically, if you are Gina) you are up shit creek. In addition, the person who stacks the most blocks will get a one-pound advantage at the weigh-in.
The challenge begins! People grab their blocks and scurry to protect the people who are not insufferable. Jackson has taken a shine to Alex, while Gina thinks that if anyone needs to stay on the ranch, it's Jackson. Danni and Joe are their usual hustling, competitive selves, and this week it is to Danni's detriment because she totally bites it while carrying a cinder block. At least she didn't accidentally bash her own head in? Of course no one stops to help her, and after writhing on the ground for a minute she gets back up and resumes her hustling. Jeff is the first to be safe, which I find odd, and Gina has no blocks covering her image. She doesn't blame people for wanting her out, given that she is the Biggest Loser on campus so far, and also a raving bitch. (Her words!) Meanwhile, Jackson actively campaigns for the others NOT to put blocks on his poster. He's sick of being ruled by fear in his life, and actually wants the opportunity to see how he'll do back in the real world. People still pile blocks on Gina's poster, and Jackson once again implores them not to keep him safe. It comes down to the wire, but Jackson's wishes are narrowly granted. Gina of course freaks out about his selfless act, and is appropriately thankful that she doesn't get the opportunity to go back to terrorizing unassuming citizens just yet. Joe finally edges out Danni in the cinder block sub-challenge, placing 20 to her 19, and gets a one-pound advantage. Ali then drops another piece of news: Jackson has to choose one other person to spend the week with him off-campus. Here's where he has to face his fear of pissing people off!
